i'm not sure about the sti but on an celica i had it had a leak that i was to lazy to repair so i was always adding fluid if i let it get too low i would have to pull the pedal off the floor so make sure your fluid level is good and pump your pedal it should get better maybe i think i hope try it

Per Service manual
There is a bleed screw on the slave cylinder.
Remove slave cylinder.
Hold piston with C-clamp to bleed with helper pressing clutch.

Hope it helps.

i really think you must have missed something you should have a pedal unless you did not get the rod in slave cylinder correctly now if your pedal was up when you finished and you just have little pressure when you pushed it down but it felt good and normal no pops or clanks etc. just fill your resavoir(sp)and pump it a few times
