Default installing electric water gauge

i need help installing a electric water gauge. i got a autometer one. I was wondering if i still need to buy that adapter. i took it into a shop and they look at the gauge and they said i don't need the adapter. they told me just install it to the stock sensor but i want my dash one to work too. So i was wondering if i can just buy the adaptor and run it to the adapter? i wanted to know what to do.

You could purchase this adapter, but you will have to cut one of your radiator hoses.

Are you sure it's the right ID?

For some reason I thought it was 38mm's.

Anyways, I need one of these to and I'm to lazy to pull the upper radiator hose to measure.

Somebody do it for me.
