Default Prosport Boost, Oil Temp, and Oil Pressure Gauges

I just finished installing the 3 gauges on my 04 Sti and I wanted to warn everyone of the problems I ran into during the installation process. The gauges I purchased were the Performance Series from Prosport.

Electronic Boost Gauge:
After the install, I took my car for a spin and the gauge seems to be off. My vacuum is at 9 hg when the ignition is on, when it should be at zero (atmospheric pressure). Boost shows 12-13psi at wot in 4th gear when my oem and AP both show 17 (stage II). I contacted Ryan from Prosport, who has excellent customer service, who I am going to send my boost gauge along with the sending unit back for him to test and he is going to get me a new one or fix the old one. Not sure if this was a dud or if anyone else had this problem too.

Oil pressure gauge:
Taking off my alternator and using the adapter from Subaru install the 1/8 sensor, I tried to install the unit at that gallery location under the alternator. The sending unit for this series gauge is way too big to squeeze in that area and my alternator would not fit back in with the sending unit there. I decided to install my oil temperature unit there instead and it fit perfect. So since the pressure sender would not fit there, I decided to install it at the gallery under the IC. After removing the IC and the gallery plug, the pressure sending unit was still to big to fit there! At this point there is absolutely no way of installing the pressure unit in any of the galleries so I had to use an Oil Sandwich Adapter.

Oil Temperature:
I had absolutely no issues with this install. If your going to use this gauge, I suggest you use the gallery under the alternator as it is so much easier to get to then the one behind the innercooler.

Overall: Great customer service! Gauges look great for the price. Not sure if the boost gauge is a fluke or not but the overall quality of the other pieces are great. Main concern is the size of the sending unit for the oil pressure gauge and the tubing/T connector for the boost gauge seem really flimsy.

Does anyone want to chime in on their experience with these gauges?

bro i had the same experience with these guages I tried to install the boost and oil pressure but I had the same fitment problems on the oil pressure sending unit. I even tried to use an extra 1/8th oil galley plug i had here and nope the oil pressure doesnt fit there either. The boost one has read fine in my opinion but the oil pressure one was just not working.

when the ignition is on with the car not running? you should have a vacuum at idle, but not with the engine off. is there a way to adjust the gauges yourself? that way you could tune it to the AP readout.

what are you talking about?
i've installed premium boost, op, ot, egt, and volt gauges with no problem. there's plenty of space under the alternator for the op. once you install the sender you have to tighten the tensioner back in place and the alternator goes up.
and the ot is installed under the ic.

I installed my Oil Pressure gauge right next to the throttle body and used their extension kit so I mounted the sender on the firewall.

This was specifically for the Performance Series. The Premium Series' Oil Pressure sending unit is a lot smaller than the Performance Series sending unit.

And to answer the other question, when the Boost Gauge was powered up and the vacuum line was hooked up, shouldn't it read zero because the engine is not on, thus there is no vacuum or boost? With just power hooked up to the gauge, it should read 0 psi not -9hg.

I had to send back my boost sender to ProSport because it was undoubtedly defective... It read 5psi when the ignition was at the on position... haha. They sent me a completely different one for free (great customer service) and now the gauge works flawlessly.

Im going to do the same tomorrow. How long did it take for you to get your gauge back? Its really nice having a company who picks up their phone.
