Default uppipe Question

Is it possible to remove the stock uppipe without removing the turbo?

I have read that it is if you are either removing or swapping headers. I have yet to confirm this. A quick search might get you the answer you are looking for.

You don't have to remove the turbo. Just get some wire and hang it up right in its spot. I just did this this previous weekend so you should have no problems.

You have to remove your downpipe first to get at the uppipe bolts.

There are brackets that support the turbo so you will be fine removing the downpipe and uppipe.

Remove the passenger side exhaust manifold elbow and you can get the uppipe out from the bottom. I usually remove the crosspipe as well for more room (and it's only 2 extra bolts.)

You will probably have the jack the engine up a little bit. Use a block of wood on the oil pan.

I am pretty sure if you are taking the headers off then you do not have to take off the turbo. I am doing mine this weekend as long as it doesnt rain.

Header and up pipe install

If you are doing everything then it is so much easier if you remove the turbo. But if you just do the manifold then it is not necessary. I have done at least 30 manifolds and up pipes and the quickest times i have done are with the turbo off.

no it is not necessary but i have hurd of some ppl doing it the only thing you have to worry about is when you go to take the up pipe out you might have to jack the motor up a few inches. also be careful of your valve cover seals there easy to hit and a pain in the you know what to replace
