Default K&N drop in filter problems?

Hey, I got my K&N filter to fit finally, but it really took some manuevering to get the lid back on the filter box. Has anyone else had tight fitment issues with their K&N filter? It seems like it works to me?? Just seeing if anyone else had to put some elbow grease to make their's fit too. Thanks El...

If it was really tough to get the lid closed, you should recheck it, to make sure the flter is seated properly. It should fit, but if it is not seated right it will cause problems....

The stock box is a pretty tight fit, just make sure the tabs facing the drivers side are fully inserted into their seats.

I took the entire top off, and then pressed the filter into the top half, then slowly attatched the top into the bottom half.

I had the same problem with my '07 STI LTD. I am disappointed with K&N. Every car I buy gets a drop-in and I've never had fitment issues.

I take the whole bottom piece off, it might be extra work but it goes in rather easily and you can actually see both tabs going in, and have peace of mind.
