Default Ohlins Flag Series Need Install Help

I've spent the last 3 hours installing only, my rear Coilovers. Taking my time, checking and rechecking things to make sure I'm doing it right. BUT, I've hit two road blocks.

Rear jacked up w/ passenger wheel off only

1st - I'm having trouble adjusting my ride height. I've loosened the 4 Allen bolts on the strut housing, to enable me to spin the shaft by hand so I can set my ride height. It has been hard as hell to turn that shaft. I tried jacking up the hub a few times in different positions which helped at first. Now the shaft won’t spin at all, it's like I need to hit the gym for a year in order to spin the shaft.

2nd - Because the shaft is too high in the strut housing, I can only reach the rebound adjuster with one finger, which makes it kind of hard to adjust. Though I am able to adjust it, I'm counting 31 or 32 clicks which can't be right.

Here's why from another member on the board:

The only interesting nugget of info in the whole document is the claim that the compression is on the top and the rebound is on the bottom. Also, there is 18 clicks of compression and 20 of rebound, rather than the 20 and 25. Turning the adjuster Clockwise increases dampening, and they then have a table that outlines how much you should turn the adjuster for three types of driving.

From a start at 0 clicks (all the way soft), adjust compression to 1-7 for street, 5-15 for "winding road", and 10-18 for "circuit". Starting with the rebound all the way clockwise turned up, back off 1-5 for "circuit", 2-7 for "winding road", and 7-20 for street.

Suggestions????

Call the vendor you purchased them from? Or call an Ohlins vendor with which you have an established relationship?

I'm trying my best to remember how we did it, but it soudns like you are on the right path. You have to first put the spring 5mm into their compression so that they have preload, then tighten down the two perch rings. Once on the car, I loosened the two hex-head bolts you mention and then spun the dampener assembly by wearing work gloves and grabing the two perch rings and twisting. You are correct in that its difficult.

It sounds like you are on the right path... I don't remember adjusting the ride height as being terrible... just incredibly tiring.

Get a strap wrench deal. It is a rubber strap with a metal handle meant to grip things like oil filters and pipes. This will help you spin the tube.

also- maybe take off the opposite wheel. it could be pulling down on the sway bar and loading the threads on the side you are turning. be sure you equally adjust the sides, since the sways connect each one.

Oh man I forgot about this thread kinda, since I didn't get any responses. My car is at the tuner as I type fixing this problem and an alignment. I really appreciate the feedback though, because in the future I will have this thread for reference.
