Default Maddad guauge install with oil sandwich what went wrong.

Ok guys take a look at the pics what in the hell did I do wrong. I did an oil change on my car when I put the sandwich adapter on. Mobil 1 syn. with new filter of course. everything seems tight (double checked) well no leaks just sitting there I crank the car and cut it off about 30 sec. later and the thing is peeing oil out of the sandwich adapter were the threads are the the brass bung for the oil temp. There are four holes did I put it in the wrong one?
should I had used some type of thread locker? Help please. I had to drain the brand new oil and put new oil in with a new filter just to make sure I got no containments in the engine.

loctite would work, ive used plumbers teflon tape on my installs, just make sure you leave the first 2 or 3 screw things without tape, (as they will be in contact with the oil).

I don't understand why they didn't do the NPT threadings on these things so you wouldn't have to worry about sealing it.

I did not use any sealant, and I have both oil temp and pressure. I get minuscule seepage from the temp sensor, but none from the pressure sensor. I will pull mine out and seal them on my next oil change. Could you have possible cross threaded or stripped the threads? I know it was a really tight fit and i though i was going to break them. Actually looking at your pics again, looks just like mine.

No, I checked for cross threading. I tightend more before takening it off and help to a point it was just sipping. I will but it on when I change my oil next time again. This time I will do the sealant and see how it goes from there.

Plumbers tape and a little bottle of stuff called IndianHead thread sealer. Will never leak or rotate/vibrate loose, ever.

We spec out 1/8 NPT for our oil temp, water temp, and oil pressure sending units. That said it's still a good idea to use a teflon tap on upper most threads. I've used a drop or two of Permatex Threadlock Red but literally 2 drops on the top most threads to ensure it doesn't seep into the oil/water.
