Default How to clean KN filter on Injen CAI system???

How do you guys clean yours? Jack up the car? Take wheel off? I'm not mech. inclined and I don't want to pull the fender well piece off and break those clips or anything. How long do you go before cleaning your KNs?

Thanks!

That's the easiest way. In about 15 minutes you could have the front jacked up, take the wheel off, and remove a few plastic clips, then remove the filter unit. You don't have to take the entire fender liner off, just enough to bend it back to get to the filter. Or I suppose you could take the entire bumper off, or even the right fender. This may take a few hours. Take your pic.

Any way to just take off the entire unit and slide it through, into the engine bay again? Just do it that way?

Thanks guys

No. No. Think about that for just a second. How big is the hole in the engine bay sidewall where the CAI piping feeds through?...just big enough to fit the piping through it. How do you expect that filter to be pulled through a hole thats half it's diameter. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO DO IT!

haha silly cold air intake guy..lol if you don't like the cold air intake cleaning method switch to a short ram.

and no.. clogged filter = slow car.

cleaning a k/n style filter really depends on how much you drive it and where you live.

i clean mine when it looses that red oil color and you can see the black dirt. plain and simple.
