04-05 headlight clearing amber pieces?

i have 05 sti.. and would like to clear the amber pieces out of it.
i heard u had to melt it.. but im not sure how long to leave it in, or wut piece to put in.. or temp..

could someone help please =] thanks

i did search and all that came up was problems people had before when doing it..
asking why did it stop working once they did it..
thats why i want to know how to do it right from someone thats done it a couple of times.. cause i dont want to be back on here a couple days from now. asking why my lights arent working =] thanks

Ok well no problem. I followed those directions and my headlights came out great. I also painted them which was very easy.

i suppose that this is a cheaper route than buying the JDM headlights.. looks cool though^^

You might also consider just paying someone to do it who has done it before.

it's super easy. i cleared/painted mine in 03 and they still look brand new. never had an issue

Go on Nasioc forums and search clearing headlights, headlight mods, etc.. there are step by step with photos.. I did mine 05 sti and its easy but its scary at the same time, If you just go slowly and dont rush the heating, 200 degrees for 15- 20 minutes.. After 15 or so, take them out with gloves and gently pry apart, if they are resisting, reheat till it pulls apart easily.. OH, You will read the directions which say REMOVE all the little phillips screws and a white plastc thing before cooking.. DO NOT GET ANY ADHESIVE OR FINGERPRINTS ON THE INSIDE PLASTIC LENS. AFTER REMOVAL OF THE AMBER , REPAINT IF YOU WANT THE INSIDE PLASTRIC. i DID NOT PAINT, ASSEMBLY.. REHEAT BOTH SIDES OF THE LAMP, ADD MORE ADHESIVE AS NEEDED, THEN REATTACH CAREFULLY, REPLACE THE SCREWS, LET DRY OVERNIGHT... i ALSO ADDED A LIGHT COAT OF CLEAR SILICONE ARROUND THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT. iT WILL CURE OVERTHE NEXT FEW DAYS.

Hey im looking to clear mines this weekend. so you only have to remove the screws and how does the white plastic thing look like? how many screws are there roughly, I don't want to end up missing any.
