I have seen the video and this car gets the **** kicked out of it. I don't think I'd purchase the car on that basis, let alone the fact that I have had experience with vinyl, lots of it, and that car is completely COVERED in it! LOL

I'd estimate that you if attempted to remove that vinyl yourself it would be around 40-60 man hours. Removing the vinyl itself is not only a pain in the ass, but there is a ton of resin that is usually left behind that is amazingly difficult to remove.

Need any tips let me know, I've tried it ALL.

I'd pay $1000 dollars easily to have that crap removed before even thinking about touching it.

Idk much about Crawford pricing, but how much realistically do you think all those modifications are worth, not counting the vinyl wrap.

I agree with the latter, taxes should not be paid on contest prizes or lotteries.

Yeah I dont get that either. This car is def not worth the 05 STi Cost + cost of all the mods. I would like to know where they came up with that # myself.

HIN dictated the value of the car before it was given away. The government based its tax value off that.

This is a quote from IRS.gov:

Prizes and awards in goods or services must be included in your income at their fair market value.

If they want $25k then you friend made way too much money last year and didn't pay his fair share of taxes. Either that or this "prize" bumped him up 20 tax brackets.

I think they valued it around 65k. 25k of 65k is ~38%

Its just like winning the lotto. You pay nearly 35% on the prize... Value most likely includes the value of parts and labor. Im sure DC paid top dollar for everything.
