First 2008 sedan full converted to a 2011 wide body,ETS gtx3576 rotated vband

So this is my build journal for my 2008 wrx sedan .

I bought this car in april 2008 in Grande Priaire, AB , CANADA.

This car was bought with the purpose in mind of a well rounded car for winter and summer and then it started, turbo addiction.

The car was never suposed to go this far but guess what i fell off the wagon and its a wolf in sheeps clothing .

I have had a vf52,hta68,gt3076 and now the gtx3576r ETS rotated kit .

For suspentions i have had megan coils,09 struts with eibach springs,bc coil overs, and now race comp tarmac 2 .

I do my own work minus the long block i had built by outfront motorsports and my paint work .I stripped the car and reinstalled all parts but the doors after paint and before hand.

I seen the zerosport modded sedan and that was it the plan to make the swap happen .

Then pretty much went out on a cliff as no one could say for sure if the parts were the same .
I had ruined the chance of just parting out the car and buying new when my engine spun a bearing may 2011.The car sat all summer till october then put the motor in and over the winter only got 927 kms .

I work in alberta 22 days on and 13 off so its a lack of time when home and other issues held me up last year with the car being on the back burner.

So i talked to the wife before hand and was going to fix the car sell and buy a new car a used gtr she didnt like the idea when she heard the price .But now looking back at the spent money a used gtr i a good deal lol.

Thanks to my family and vim at foreman performance and eric my tuner at torqued performance both who had spent tons of time dealing with me being cheap lol and always giving me help .

so since the early days of getting my 08 wrx she has been a bit skinny

and the next summer she got some new kicks

next a top mount then fmic and a intake and tune vf53 and some nicer kicks and coil overs and stage 2.52 and i was cooking with grease

the next winter all hell broke loose 9.5 slammed and cf everywhere bigger turbo and bam motor be the biscut and choked on the crust.

now i got it together and decide my car has a eating disorder i need to help with that and this is that story into the transformation and some plastic surgery and here it goes under the knife .

So the wide body starts .
i had thought just quarters rear doors and front clip and rear bumper but guess again, it needed, outer wheel wells and full rockers and full quarter replacement also.

Lucky for me the body guy doing the panels has done it for 20 years .
All parts were bought from Subaru of Moncton NB, Canada.

I also decided my seats needed some spicing up so i got all the stitching redone in blue and wrx on the seats as the 08 got the short stick .

Smy cluster also stepped up with a new covered cluster with blue stitching.

I Then shortly got a call to come see a pretty young thing at the paint shop look what i came across .

I then got started putting the car back together i had gotten all the dash trim and door trims painted base coat clear coat black and my headliner covered and black to start my interior changes.​

all dusty and trunk is dirty .

been on a break the last few days i will put the grill mesh in and mirrors and odds and ends.

i will be lowering the front a inch tonight and seeing how that looks .

i have the grids sold if i can get the new rims lined up .

so today the Extreme Turbo System rotated gtx3576r turbo kit arrived and my super trapp muffler for my ewg.

i of course was like i kid in a candy store .

so for tonight here is a bunch of pictures i will fix it tomorrow as this was just a quick post fell asleep and woke up and never got to work on it tonight after we came back from the movies.

anyway the quality is fantastic the welds also .

only 1 issue no return for bpv so to atmosphere it goes.and doesn't come with gaskets for the header to up pipe or to the catback so i am looking pretty hard to say that its missing .

alot of mocking and test fitting .i pretty much have it to where i want it to be now as you will see by the last picture i just have to test fit the bottom of the down pipe and the ewg and pipe with muffler and it tighten everything up and run new hoses.

anyway i will do a better write up later i will leave ya with a few pictures the last two are how it was when i stopped this evening .

car is running now its time to work out some bugs .
made my hot pipe out of a few of the sti pipes that came with my fms front mount turned out not bad .

got to check some codes and check for a exhaust leak and my battery is shot going to swap it under warranty and its time for some logging to get this tuned a bit .

so after my two day episode i fixed the car and had it running i had 4 plug fouled so bad i had zero spark :|

so the car is running and now being tuned on speed density by eric mine torqued performance .
so far the map is better running then it was with the maf .
got a new inspection and put a 100-150 kms on and had a great day getting miles on the motor ,
i pulled out to passed a pickup and had the stereo on didn't realize how quick the boost came on .
hope to get a bunch more miles on tomorrow .

here is a few pictures to show how the car looks as of today , i had a issue with the mesh so i pulled it till some better stuff comes in .

15mm spacers are here also to be put on the rear to get those rears out of the wheel wells .

Nice to meet you Dr. Frankenstein! I mean that in a great way. Fantastic transformation with the end result looking,sounding and running great. Must have took much courage to tackle this transformation but the end result must be very rewarding.

thanks guys

well it started as i almost bought a evo then i bought the wrx as i was trying to keep my payment lower 150 a month more for a sti .

then i was going to trade in and tossed the vf52 on and i was like this is great got bored put the hta68 on and bam motor went .

so then i was suck with replacing the motor and was already into the car for 10000 so i said screw it i would build it rather then trade as it still only has 30000kms .

and it just kept getting crazier and here i am still only have 32500 kms 4 years later and 30000+ into it minus the 6spd and rear end its pretty solid i think those are on this winters shopping list .

so ya the moral of this story is buy a fast car rather then make one unless your crazy like me .

this car wont be going far i will keep it for life unless someone has deep pockets .

yes sir waiting on my cf exhaust shields from royal enterprise to finish off the butt

Kudos to you for embarking on something most of us would think about and tip back many drinks over - but never commit to. I totally get your logic and financial rationale - so kudos again for actually doing it. Great result.
thank you sir i kind of thought i was crazy during it when i went in and seen my car cut to shreds i near cried then i knew i had no choice but to finish .

sir i will have one shortly i am at work for another 14 days and then will keep breaking it in and july is when i plan to mybe rip up to the dyno as the nearest one is 10hrs away .

i will have a virtual dyno as soon as i get another 800 kms on and start to really get into the tune and bring on more then 12.6 psi even now its more then the vf52 at 21psi maybe its the way it pulls up top .

i still think its close to the spool of the atp3076r so its very driveable an the whistle is there even without boost .

i plan to swap out the maf and put a full 4" filter in and have total 4" intake .

as soon as i get more info you will have it as there isnt much info on it anywhere

This is great, and good work. Next time someone asks what it will take to convert a narrow body, we can point to this. :D

videos 1-2 are rear mounted camera you get some ark action :) sounds great super glad i got it over the q300

Nice work.

Have you been on a dyno with the GTX3576? If so could we see the graph? I understand its still a break in tune but I'm interested in how much lag it has.

Is your alignment okay? The steering wheel looks like it isn't centered properly.

Well finally I am comming to a close on my wide body build .
When my car was narrow body my grids were aggressive no they are like stockers on the rear .
So one of my final mods is bigger rims .

I have been on the hunt .i was going to buy te37 or work xd9 or s1r miester .
And the wait times kill.
The xd9 are cheaper and have a lip but there everywhere .
The te37 are nice also but are less concave then the grids .
So that left s1r the new meisters .

And I have lined up a buyer for my grids a few times over waiting on the cash now .
And I am keeping my tires to run out and later get a set of 275+ .

Without farther blabbing here we are with a new to me set of kicks these are the pictures from his car and I can't wait to see them on mine as they look unreal on his .

18x10 +30 a disk all around they call me meister

so i did a virtual dyno at my .8 bar and hre it is as the tuning goes the car isnt even close to being fully tuned at the 11 psi i have 2200 kms on it and am hoping to install the iat sensor in the next few days and get the party started .
i have to get my tial q installed and mount the iat sensor where the bov is now .and pll the maf and in stall my 4" air filter and remove the 3" bottle neck on the intake.
so far the car drives great i have to figure out a few ghosts like a air bag light and vdc light comming on radomly .
at this point car feels as strong as it ever did on the previous vf at 21 psi.
waiting on the wheels to get the alignment so i can set the car up once .

this is with the proper tire size and my 210 pounds i only added 100 for my add ons but i bet its more like 200 i will get a actual weight on a scale soon .

well 3 out of 4 wheels arrived ups is in my shit list .
the other should arrive tomarrow with my tial q and work lugs .

well to top it off i will have to replace my tires after all .my toe and camber ate the shit out of my two rear tires .

so to the top of the list is a set of adjustable lateral links and a set of 265/35/18 .
i went with a set of maxxis ma-z1for 195 each 880 in total i couldnt say no when to replace the two tires again was going to be 550 ish so i said screw it sell te two i have throw the other two in the trash and lesson learned get a good alignment .

the offset on the wheels is +30 18x10 and they fit like a dream no spacer up front and all .

tires are here for monday so i hope to get them on as my rotas ship out that day also so the car isnt on jack stands while i am at work too many people in and out of my garage.

i also will have a alignment pre booked for the day i arrive home again .
i need to get the tial q ad flanged pipe so i can get the perrin moved and put the aem iat sensor mounted in its spot till winter when i rotate the intake and make new piping .

some good and crappy pics of the rim/tire swap today
i will try to get some good ones tomarrow before i leave for work .
i will wait for the alignment to change the camber anymore the fronts are maxed on the stock camber bolts and 3/4 on the adjustment plates .
rear toe arms are maxed now that i realized it was so screwed .
i will have a alignment setup for when i arrive home after i swap out to my whiteline adjustable toe arms that are in route .
the tial q and petals arrived and my 4" k&n fiter so i can remove my maf .
didnt get to tune this time home but got the miles on it i wanted so next trip home is oil swap and bov swap and iat sensor and get some tuning done see what more boost feels like .
