hey just for your knowledge I saw a complete stock rear '08 sti rear bumper on ebay for sale and if I remember right it was fairly cheap. It's WRB but a little paint could fix that right up. Sorry to hear about the damage but that was a good view on the whole thing. Chicks dig scars BTW!!! Good luck!!!

no! sorry about the damage man. glad you & your friend weren't injured & i'm glad you were able to avoid the trees/poles (airbags, broken glass, multiple panel damage...). still is a major bummer about all the wounds the car sustained. i still want to see it, if that makes you feel any better, haha. good luck finding the parts and in the mean time, just back into parking spots so you don't have to be reminded of the damage when walking back to your car!

Thanks guys. I know it gives it "character" but it also annoys me to see the damage every time I get in it. I like the stock bumper design and looking at aftermarket options I'm not really impressed by any. The L'aun Sport is pretty nice but it's $1200. I would assume/hope that the stock bumper costs less.

I'm going down to a Subie dealership today to ask what a replacement bumper would run me so I have that info for the insurance company. While I'm there I'm also going to try and find more info on wheel/exhaust repair if they can recommend anyone and pick up an exhaust gasket. I'll see what I can find out today and until I schedule all that I'm going to clean out the rear of the car w/ the hose today, lube up my sway bars that need it anyway, and put the exhaust back on.

Sorry to see this damage, but the only silver lining i can see, it gives you a reason to get in there and flip the RSB around so its the correct way up

Bumper repairs are not bad at all. I was quoted $264 for the bumper unpainted from 1 dealer. I'm gonna check other sources though.

EDIT: And yeah perhaps I'll flip it :P

When you lost traction did you lift off the gas?

I'm sorry to hear about your damage. I wouldn't put any money into it though. Sometime soon some jackass is going to rear end you or back into you--have it fixed on their dime. That's what a bumper is for, anyway.

I stayed on it but the issue was more when I pulled around w/ countersteer my rear tire hit the dirt and that REALLY screwed me over. Car was like "NOPE not doin it!" and spun around.

Lol I'm too anal to let this sit like this. And I'm very relieved to find out it won't cost much to repair the bumper.

Well, the roads we drove on after you guys left were pretty beat up as far as bumps and stuff but they were dry and clear unlike the first half. So it was pretty enjoyable--just very bumpy. Yesterday was like a rally course, it was crazy.
