IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2008 | I have money aside for the ams kit once its ready for us Doug, keep me posted. racetech has some of the nices seats around!!! I may have to upgrade the supra with a set of those! Is your seat bracket custom? I've been sitting on my hands waiting for Sparco to bring its '08+ brackets for my sparco evo seat. I got a track day on the 20th at VIR and They need to move it! |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2006 | Yes the seat bracket is custom, I don't like the off the shelf pieces since none of them are strong enough to my liking. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2008 | If it is a little more affordable then the quotes I got locally from fabricators (4-5 hours of labor) I would be down too |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 | I'm really surprised the stock TMIC was able to do the trick. What CFM do you think it flows? It can't be that much more than '04-07 STI's (of which I still have no idea what CFM they flow ). On my Dom III setup on crappola 91 octane gas, I had to pull a degree of timing up top running the stock TMIC since I was getting some knock. Your thread on NASIOC was actually what prompted me to get tuned on the stock top mount (versus the AMR I had). I've again switched out to the AMR 900CFM TMIC now and will be getting retuned for it shortly. Should be interesting to see what the difference is. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2008 | isnt the DOM 3 a smaller compressor? The extra heat maybe the issue for you. i think doug's point that the GT35r is running within a "sweet spot" efficency range helps the stock TMIC deal with the GT35r's CFMs when the heat is lower then the DOM 3's attempt at the same CFMs carrying higher temps because of the smaller compressor? |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 | ^Not at my current boost level (20 PSI to 18) or temperature. I was road tuned in 26*F weather. The Dom 3 is a 52lb/min versus the 65lb/min of the 35R. |

but I still want to keep the stock TMIC. I want more hp but don't feel like going to stage 2 only to re-do it again with a turbo upgrade. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2006 | Update: I have been on the road a lot lately doing some tuning trips which has given me ample time to dive into the inner workings of the 08sti's ecu. By datalogging and recalibrating over and over the timing, fuel, and the cams I have been able to extract some wicked MPG with my new setup. All the while keeping the smooth driveablity and max power the same. So now there is no need to load an economy map since its all tuned on one. Between the awesome Deatschwerks Injectors, AMS Turbo kit, and some really good tuning I can proudly say I have achieved the perfect setup. Not only is the car nice and quiet like stock, gets amazing gas mileage, it also makes a ton of power. How perfect you say? How about for this last tank of gas I have driven 210 miles and avg 34.2mpg and still make over 420whp.Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too.. |
