IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (3) | SOLD 2008 Aspen White STi ![]() Click on each title below to go to post with pictures... ____________________________________ De-badge First thing I did was de-badge. There were just too many badges and I like the cleaner look. I kept the STi badge in the rear so for those who don't know, know! ____________________________________________ STi Marque Plate I don't like having a front state plate and I didn't want to see the holes in the front bumper so I got the STi marque plate next. ____________________________________________ Window Tints Not big on the fish bowl look so I installed some tints. I still need to install the rear tint but I will need professional help with that one. ____________________________________________ Tail-light Overlays Biggest appearance flaw on the STi for me were the clear tail-lights so those had to go and I installed some overlays. The install can be pretty challenging. I highly recommend someone experienced or a professional do it for best results. A soapy/water solution and blow dryer is needed as a lot of stretching is necessary. ____________________________________________ Mud Flaps I never intended on getting mud flaps but after seeing and hearing of the paint issues I had to get them for a little added security. I'm only running the flaps in the front for now. ____________________________________________ Cobb AP I guess this is one of the first and best performance mods for the STi. The numerous amounts of stories about the fact that the stock tune sucks was a big driving force to get this. Also, if I get any mods in the future the tuner can use the AP to do a custom tune. ____________________________________________ Red Grill Pinstripe Decided to try the Type RA-R grill mod on the 2008 STi. So I picked up some 1/4" red vinyl pinstripe at an auto parts store and I put it on. I really like the subtle touch this gives and I see more and more '08 STi's doing this mod. ____________________________________________ Intake Silencer Removed I saw this on jph's journal and decided to go ahead and remove the intake silencer since I already had the bumper off during my Hell Supertones install. You do get more intake noise above 3k RPM and it sounds good. ____________________________________________ Hella Supertones Bought the 118dB Hella Supertones in hopes of having a louder, more masculine horn and that is exactly what I got! Let's just say it pierces your ears! The stock horns were an embarrassment. ____________________________________________ Advan RS 18x9 +29 Wheels Ever since seeing these on IStoSTI's ride and then seeing the Original Runduce STi, I knew these were the wheels I wanted. And I was willing to do the fender roll and suspension upgrade to make them fit. Many thanks to t3h_Clap for helping me out with all his knowledge and wisdom. ____________________________________________ Falken Azenis RT-615 (245/40/18) I had these tires on my other ride and I really liked them. These are good performance tires with an aggressive tread design. ____________________________________________ Muteki Neo-Chrome Lugs Needed some tuner lug nuts for the new wheels. Decided to get the Muteki Neo-Chrome Lugs as I liked the finish on these. ____________________________________________ BC Racing Coilovers Because of the low offset on my wheels I needed to get some negative camber and getting coilovers was the way to go to achieve this. I also wanted a drop and with these coilovers I can dial it in to my liking. ____________________________________________ LED Dome Light I replaced my interior dome light with a super bright and white LED circuit board with something like 12 LED's. This really brightens up the interior and gives off a really clean looking light. I bought this from leddomelight.com and I plan on getting the Map Lamp kit as well but the $70 price tag has me looking around for more cost effective alternatives. ____________________________________________ Sylvania Silverstar ULTRA- The Whitest and Brightest Halogen I replaced my stock high beam lights (9005SU) and fog lights (9006SU) with the Sylvania Silverstar ULTRA. These are the whitest and brightest halogen lights Sylvania offers. These really are whiter and brighter and I recommend them for anyone upgrading their lights. ____________________________________________ TWM Performance M1 Abrams RL Satin Shift Knob (400 grams with 6-speed engraving) I replaced the stock shift knob with the M1 Abrams RL Shift Knob from TWM Performance. This thing is heavy (400 grams). It is a high quality piece and the shifts feel great with this heavier knob. The fit and finish is great and it feels even better. ____________________________________________ DIY Lip & Grill Painted Flat Black I did the DIY lip. It is a garage door weatherstripping that comes in a roll, and it can be found at most hardware stores. I applied it with some heavy duty double-sided tape and I used some black silicon to clean up the edge where the lip meets the bumper. Overall I am very pleased for something that cost me less that $25 to do. I also painted the 'nostril' on the front grill flat black to better match the rest of the grill. ____________________________________________ Magnaflow Catback Exhaust I purchased the Magnaflow catback for under $500. I got it because it was cheap and Magnaflow makes quality exhaust. I'm really pleased with this exhaust for now, it gives the car so much more attitude and you get that boxer rumble. I must say though that the boxer rumble isn't that predominanat as found in older STi's with melon shooters. Once more exhaust hit the market, I may upgrade. ____________________________________________ Invidia Catted Downpipe This high-flow catted dp was my next mod. I wanted to complete the tbe and chose to go with the Invidia catted DP. I chose catted because I didn't want to be too loud, throw a CEL, and have issues with boost creep ____________________________________________ Agency Power CAI Chose this intake because of the wrinkle red finish, added heat shield, and advertised performance gains. ____________________________________________ AP PROTuned by Jorge @ P&L Motorsports Got her dyno tested at P&L. Jorge did his thing and even though he was very conservative and did everything in his power for a safe tune I am extremely pleased with the numbers. Jorge is a top notch guy and was very knowledgeable. I was running a COBB Stage 2 map prior to this pro-tune and there is no comparison. The COBB Stage 2 OTS map was very sluggish. With what Jorge did power now comes on strong and the throttle is smooth. If you have the option I would say get pro-tuned as soon as you can when you go Stage 2. IMO the OTS map is ok to get you by a couple days but if you plan on staying Stage 2 then a pro-tune should be a priority. ____________________________________________ LightWerkz Angel Eyes Obviously these are standard on some BMW's and I have always loved the look. When the opportunity came to put it on my car I could not pass it up. I've seen these on the pig nose STi's and knew it was something that I needed to do. These add a subtle touch to the appearance of the car and I love it. ____________________________________________ Current Mods and links to pictures: De-badge [Post #20] Black STi Stainless Steel Marque License Plate [Post #21] Blue Batmobile Overlays [Post #22] Blue Batmobile Overlays [Post #23] Window Tints (35% front & 20% rear) [Post #24] Rally Armor Mud Flaps [Post #47] Red Grill Pinstripe [Post #82] Intake Silencer Removed [Post #142] Hella SuperTones Pictures [Post #143] Hella SuperTones Video/Sound Clips [Post #144] Advan RS 18x9 +29 (Gold) w/ Falken Azenis RT-615 (245/40/18) [Post #271] Advan RS 18x9 +29 (Gold) w/ Falken Azenis RT-615 (245/40/18) [Post #272] BC Racing Coilovers [Post #332] BC Racing Coilovers Installed [Post #336] TWM Performance M1 Abrams RL 400 gram Satin knob with 6-speed engraving [Post #409] Grill Painted Flap-Black & DIY Front Lip [Post #410] Magnaflow Cat-back Exhaust [Post #420] Agency Power CAI [Post #472] AP PROTuned by Jorge @ P&L Motorsports [Post #488] LightWerkz Angel Eye Kit [Post #505] Invidia Catted Downpipe LED Dome Light Sylvania Silverstar ULTRA Halogen Bulbs Crawford Performance A/O Separator This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | Welcome! You're all growns up from the SRT-4 (I keed, I keed). Yeah, the tough thing about the Evo X is that it just doesn't look like a $33,000 car in person. Pics can make it look better but the interior just made me really sad when I sat in it (except the seats). Enjoy the new ride and update your journal everyday! |

You are exactly right about the Evo, it does not appear like a $30,000+ car. I will keep this journal updated as I modify the STi. Thanks. | |
