IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2009 | I just came home wiht a 2009 Pearl White STi, fully loaded except no Nav. I would like opinions on a good brand and model for me ? I really need one for business, always meeting customers at jobs sites all over Chicago land. Is there a system that can actually be fitted inside the dash, bu removing the exsting radio ? Or otherwise just a good brand that mounts inside the the car somewhere ? Thank you |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2008 | I have a factory Navigation and it SUCKS...you have to be specific on address St., Ln., Pl., etc. It's basically useless for business purposes. You can not load all your stops and project distances between each address. I have a back up NUVI 760 what a tool...I love it! I've been meaning to send SOA a photo of NUVI mounted above factory (navi) head unit. What waste of money...I can't ***** too much since I received $7,500 off list. Factory navigation is not worth the extra expense...save your money. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2008 | welcome fellow chicagoan. i tried the kenwood DNX9140. search youtube for the TERRIBLE nav portion of this unit. i posted a video of mine. i think the Eclipse 6600 or 726e would be good (i have an almost bnib 726e for a GREAT price available) or i would check out the pioneer avic 110bt. good luck finding ANYthing to look at in chicago. it's a car audio desert. all places will be happy to order you a unit, but none had anything to play with other than ABT, and they were out of the 110bt. shoot me a pm if you like for more. i went back to the stock nav system. i think it works very very well. cheers, and welcome aboard! |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2008 | I went with the alpine 505. Not really happy with it for the price nearly 2000 installed with steering wheel control ebrake faker outer and nav. The NAV is pretty weak. Many streets and addresses are not in the map. (well they are on the map just not available to input).. annoying.. The ipod control is so annoying I don't use it. I use the line in and control the music directly on the ipod (can't do this if usb is plugged in).... so charging via the usb is inconvenient at best. The speaker phone via bluetooth is much harder to communicate on than the 129 dollar parrot I have in my work truck. So overall I feel that going with alpine's higher end units that are currently available is a huge waste of money. Anyone want to buy mine? |

OP if you go aftermarket nav be sure to get the JDM double din trim panel, it'll make it all look factory. Last edited by STIdad; 09-11-2009 at 09:44 PM.. | |
