FWIW I tried this today to see if there would be a noticible difference and indeed there is. I asked my gf to proform a blind test with one seat removed and the other intact and she successfully selected the modified seat as more supportive!

Only thing I did different was remove the entire support peice rather than just unhook it.

the alternate on this mod is to forcibly bend the wire supports towards the rear of the car, thereby making a 'deeper' cavity for your torso when you sit. I did this on Day One of ownership....perhaps halfway to the extent of the version listed here but with no downsides.

can you get any pictures of the back of the seat with someone sitting in it. i feel as if the back of the seat will become rounded like a knocked up woman, complete with stretch marks

that seems like a really good idea, maybe stretch the springs enough so you can still sink in but the back of the seat isnt supporting all your weight..

i'll take a look at it after i install my springs today

I'm not a mechanical genius but it seems to me if someone developed something to extend the lengths of the hooks you'd still retain some of the benefit of whatever that system is there for without compromising whatever reason its there for in the first place.

after reading all this that is what i am thinking. a simple chain link would do it, or you could go even lower budget and use some really cheap hanging lamp chain. You know the kind you use to relocate a hanging light above your dinner table

Interesting... wondering if just making the hook smaller thereby lengthening the support would work?

You're onto something.

A chain link and a double sided hook (S shaped) sounds like the fix eh?

Definitely more supportive on the upper section. The thigh support still needs some work- would be nice if someone can start tearing that out and see what they can do.
