The headunit is actually closer to the 07 LGT and the OEM speakers are better quality than the 05 LGT. The LGT also has 1 less tweeters in the front door than the GR STI, which has a coax and a separate tweeter. Much better for imaging... I think the sub might be the same though.

Wow thanks. I've heard so much negative feedback in here regarding the STI stereo that I'm shocked to hear it's better than the LGT's - which I've grown to consider pretty decent. Last question...is there an AUX input on the BACK of the STI's head unit? I have an 80GB hard drive I'd like to hardwire into the car - probably under the passenger seat. I'm not an iPod guy.

The OEM AUX input is under the center armrest along with another 12v outlet. The LGT has far more dampening from the factory that the STI and that makes a huge difference.

I have been in the Car Audio Industry for 6 years and haven't seen any until recently and have NEVER seen any for Subarus; only American cars that are compatible with USB. Your best bet will EITHER be getting a new deck with USB input OR doing a CARPUTER! And most decks with USB input can only support up to 8-16 GB; so an 80 GB HD will be OTQ... I know the Alpine IDA units can do 250 as long as the HD pulls less than 150 mA and less than 5 V and the USB cable is as short as possible. Good Luck! | |

It's an 80GB Omnifi and it interfaces with a HU like a CD changer at the AUX input. It's a very cool little product (albeit shortlived) that Rockford Fosgate produced a couple years back. That being said, looks like the NAVI package might be a waste of money considering my priorities. Thanks for the excellent info guys.
