| Joined the Conversation Feedback Score: 0 reviews | 2011 Sedan and Hatch came out with some upgrades', while Evo remains the same, there are no announcements for any 2011 evo. Considering that there will be no new Evo this year, what do you guys think is better now.. I think - EvoX is ahead of 2010 STI Hatch.., Will new models from Subaru bring some competion to Evo? or suspension upgrades and new sedan wont help alot. Any advise on what to buy - EvoX, 2011 STI 4door or 2011 STI 5door.. ? For DD and sometimes for Track's, going to mode it anyway.. Country: UAE |

But as far as i understand these problems comes from pistons and block... for example i replace those with forged ones, will the problem be solved? .. can i strengthen sti's Engine? And how much will it cost me? New 2011 suspension is not that soft as 2010, also Subaru's Boxer sounds better then Evo's inline engine - all together and we will get a better car then Evo.. It will cost more to mode it as far as i understand but anyway Please - Don't flame me if i wrote something wrong, im kinda new in this.. |

It's faster in a straight line, more comfortable for daily driving, sounds so much better, better build quality on the inside, smoother shifting 6-speed transmission, and has the practicality of the hatch. Also, no annoying 5th gear drone on the highway, and I know Subaru will be around tomorrow (not so sure about Mitsu). So you can see it was a pretty easy choice for me. On the other hand, you might be the kind of person that wants that extra edge in handling or want the car that responds to bolt-ons better, and don't care as much about engine note/utility/etc. Then you should go with the Evo. In the end, the Evo is better in some areas, the STI in others. Both are great cars, just think about what you want and go from there. |

Maybe there is a need to strengthen STI's engine just next day after purchasing it? is it possible at all? and what will it cost.. What do you think about it?..

You can always drop forged pistons into the engine and they will be bulletproof, but it isn't cheap. The pistons themselves won't cost that much, but the labor cost of tearing down the engine and rebuilding it will be a lot. Ringland failures are pretty rare in these cars, based on the surveys we've seen on this site. It looks like the failure rate is roughly around 1%, and that includes stock and modified cars. If you keep it stock, you shouldn't have any problems getting your engine fixed under warranty if it happens. |

Depends on how much power your going to go for. Ive been running my current setup for ~30,000mi no issues but its nothing huge (290whp/310ftlbs 21.5psi). I would personally go with a 2011 sti sedan.
