Ive had the same problem a few times on my 08. I remember I also had the same problem on my 05. It went away after awhile and I never heard it again. So its not just an 08 thing at least!

well the dealership called me back today and said the parts were in. i'll drop it off on monday...can't wait to beat up the loaner they give me.

please keep us updated to see if this solved the problem.. my starter had been replaced however problem remains.. if this is the solution i'm gonna push for them to replace my flywheel too..

I had this problem yesterday for the first time. I had my car on ramps when I started it. AWFUL NOISE!!! I won't worry about it until it starts happening alot.

Odd - this happened once to me about 4 months ago. Since it didn't happen again I completely forgot. Then it happened as I tried to start it two times in a row yesterday.

I am interested in knowing what the actual cause of this is.... its happened to me once, with my 09, and it did once on my 05.... I never heard it again after those cases

I still get this grinding sound once in awhile during cold start-ups..

yeah i noticed after winter it went away, and it would only happened when its really really cold like 10F or lower.

It happened twice to me. It happened once when I was stock and another after a few months. Till today, I never heard it again.
