Default My STi all in one key mod...




so i was able to transplant the immobilizer chip and key into the remote... great. but it doesnt always start the car. sometimes it cranks over, sometimes not at all, sometimes it will begin to start but then die off. any ideas??

Any pics of the key with the rubber off? Was the chip in contact with the key?

The electronics from the remote is almost certainly is messing with the RFID signal to the immobilizer.

rubber part of the key is a sleeve. the chip was inside a small plastic case that attached to the key. it was completely surrounded by plastic.

think the remote could be the issue, even though its not active?

I think you're right. Looking at the placement of it on the original key set up, it is right there at the column when inserted.

Interesting idea but I don't know if I would want to do something like this. If it could be done and look OEM, people would be more interested in doing it.
