Default Strange Turn Signal Electrical Problem

Hi everyone. So I recently purchased an 08 STI from a forum member here.

I noticed a very strange electrical issue. When I have the right turn signal on WHILE my head lights are on the blinker blink really fast.

When the headlights are off, the turn blinker blinks at a normal speed.

This ONLY happens when the head lights are on and ONLY on the right side.

Thoughts on how to find the problem?

This came up fairly recently. There is a problem with the turn signal socket itself in the headlight. Take it to the dealer and explain. They should be able to get you a new one and fix it. It is not a bad bulb.

Turns out it was a malfunctioning bulb.

It still lit up though. Weird.

Dealer replaced it under warranty. Thanks!

I had the same problem. I replaced the bulb three times myself. It would fix the issue for a couple of weeks and then it would reappear. A couple of times, it started having problems and then stopped a week later. It wasn't the bulb for me. Keep an eye on it.

Crazy, just had this happen to me for the first time yesterday. I didn't notice if it was headlight related, though I did have them on yesterday. I'll have to check that out. It was also only the right side for me.

Happened to me too. It's not the bulb because the issue went away on its own when I was about to replace the bulb.

The bulb will light up very dim, which lowers the resistance on the circuit, which makes it flash faster.

My right signal would blink fast sometimes, then it started doing it all the time, with headlights on and off. I decided to see if it was a bulb issue by switching the left and right bulbs, to see if the problem followed the bulb or stayed on the right side. First, I had to remove the battery and airbox to get to the blink bulbs.

To my great joy after I moved the battery out of the way and removed the airbox both blinkers began to work properly again. I decided to switch the bulbs anyway in case the problem happened again I could still see if it was related to the bulb if it happened on the left side rather than the right. Well, since I fiddled with it, both have been working normally... So I don't know what the problem was, but I guess its gone for now. Perhaps just a loose connection on the passenger side.
