IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 | Ok I've got my new 08 and was driving around a few minutes ago and noticed I can't see much of anything. The lights are on 0 on the little wheel which is the highest they go which ain't much. Is it possible to adjust the headlights to make em a tad bit higher from under the hood? When looking out the windshield it looks like theres not much light shining on the left side.. I especially noticed then when I took a nice left curve and couldn't see more than 30 feet ahead of me and it was pitch black. Edit: Nevermind found a Do It Yourself. IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 | There was a thread earlier this year that showed how to adjust them, really well...Do a search and it should pop up...It only took about 20 min to adjust them...It involves turning a small screw on the back of the headlight assembly, but I can't remember which one...The thread even has photos. |

You'll see hexagonal white plastic adjusters in back of each of headlight assembly (they stick out about 1/2"). These can be turned with a Phillips head screwdriver or a ratchet wrench to adjust the vertical aim of the headlights. As I recall, you turn counterclockwise to adjust the headlights upward. Note that you don't have much space to work in, and also note that the guy who posted the original instructions indicated that it's easy to strip out the adjusters using a Phillips head. I used a flat ratchet wrench like this: In terms of the actual point of aim, I pulled my car about 25 feet from my garage and adjusted the headlights up about 6 - 8" from the original point of aim. In normal driving, I now keep the headlights two clicks down from their highest position. That leaves plenty of downward adjustment if I'm carrying aload, but also allows me to raise the headlights a bit above the normal point of aim if I'm driving on lightly-traveled country roads. The original point of aim for my headlights was also much too low. This is not uncommon for Subaru. Be careful, though, not to aim them so high as to blind oncoming drivers. IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 | Same hear. Quick trip to a strip mall with the proper-sized box-end wrench, a tape measure, and some blue masking tape and Bob's your Uncle! Last edited by Bownse; 09-23-2008 at 01:10 PM.. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 | Hey guys, after a recent curbing incident, my right light aims slightly lower than the left. I've never meddled with the aim adjustments. Could the bulb be jolted out of position? Is this possible? I want to keep the original aim height and don't want to be messing around with the adjustments if something else is broken or misaligned. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2007 | Your mileage will most certainly differ but I adjusted mine 5 full turns and it turned out to be right on when I later found a good place to measure it. Adjusted it so that normal driving is at setting #2 Steve |
