IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 | I recommend you skip using a screw driver. The head of the bolt is plastic and is very easily stripped out. Use an open-ended wrench if that's all you have. It takes longer but the adjusting bolt is less likely to get damaged. Much better is a ratcheting box end wrench. Buy 1 now and add it to your tool kit that will last you the rest of your life. Buy a set and thank yourself for decades to come. A quick google came up with these combo wrenched (metric is what you wants). Amazon.com: Gear Wrench 9900 7-Piece 10-Millimeter to 19-Millimeter Flex Ratcheting Box End and Open End Combination Wrench Set: Home Improvement i can't make a recommendation for them specifically, but they give you an idea of what I'm talking about. and, yeah, remove the air box intake (as described) and it's much easier to access. 2008 Subaru WRX STi - HID Headlight Adjustment |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 | Good question. I know that the low beams are HID and have their own capsules and reflectors; different needs than halogen bulbs and reflectors. I adjusted my HID low beams as described and the highs work okay without any individual changes. I'm of the opinion that the factory adjusts them excessively low so that the inconsiderate/clueless CAN'T use the height adjustment in the cabin to make them blind oncoming traffic. By adjusting them as described, I can crank them up nice and high when out on the open road and they work better than the high beams. Check it out and let us know. I'll be happy to update the reference page and give proper credit. Last edited by Bownse; 12-07-2008 at 10:20 AM.. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 | I did mine 3 turns counter-clock-wise each. So far, nobody has flashed, they don't seem to bother oncoming cars and visibility is much improved over the craptastic stock setting. |
