It isn't...it tapers at the cat to mate to the stock downpipe.

I've driven with the SPT on my 2010 STI for over a year, it's a nice exhaust. Definitely a nice deep tone for an OEM piece, I never had any droning.

I'm removing it tomorrow as it interferes with my rear sway bar upgrade. the piping route is odd on the SPT catback as far as how it routes around the rear diff. there was minimal clearance with the stock rear sway bar, let alone anything aftermarket.

I hate giving up on the sound of the SPT, but with certain suspension upgrades, it just doesn't work.

It sounds like a lot of the SPT drone complaints are from owners of '11 models.

Appreciate the advice about stock rear sway clearance. Good to know. . .

is that clearance issue on the hatch? im looking at picking up an '11 sedan spt exhaust but could find no clear answer on it's diameter piping etc.

I have it on my 011 sedan, no issue with 22mm whiteline RSB.
Do have droning though on the highway. Prolly going to swap it out for Invidia

Can anyone confirm Eibach rear sway bar fitment issues with the SPT exhaust on a 2011 sedan? I've got an '11 STI Sedan with both the SPT exhaust and Eibach sway bars on order.

so has anyone swapped the midpipe for a full 3incher? like turboxs or the like?

I just replaced my SPT today with Q300 and after reading this I went and double checked it is 2.5in and flares to 3in at mating surface so it is 99% 2.5in. ( for hatch )
Anyway I love the Q300 it sounds just like I want it to and not too loud. Love to hear that turbo spool! I also got the TI tips looks good with the WR blue. I am also running Invidia catless DP so do not know how it sounds with stock DP.

Now if I could sell the SPT!
