| ANY caliper you push hard on track will eventually need rebuilt, street or "track" calipers. I've seen several track calipers used for street and track use and it only took 8 years for my buddy's set to start leaking. We just popped the pistons outc cleaned them up and installed new seals (non-dust boot caliper). Heck, WE already drive with "track" calipers from the factory.

| Based on rep, I'm leaning toward Brembo 6 pots; based on price, I'm leaning toward Alcon, stuck in the middle is Stop Tech. My real problem is wheels - but that's a different thread I'll have to start. Thanks for all of the input and I'll post my purchase in the next 3 weeks. . . |

The real advantage of getting a BBK isn't really increasing your stopping power so to speak. It is really designed to give less brake fade over extended periods of heavy use (track days or racing events). For any one just driving hard on the streets or doing occasional autocross, a BBK isn't really necessary. You can get away with a good set of stainless lines, pads and good rotors. So far, the only thing I've had to do to keep them running well is to periodically clean them. They spit out a bit more brake dust than the stock kit. I just spray them with a high pressure hose, and a bit of brake cleaner. That seems to keep them running well. | |

| Look guys, I am SPONSORED by Alcon. There is no question that my view points are biased. HOWEVER, before I was sponsored, I met with the head of the North American branch of the company because I wanted to BUY them. There are definitely other companies out there that make good or even great brakes. There are also companies out there whose products are complete ****. I'm not really interested in buying brakes that come in 1000 different colors to match my paint scheme. I'm also not interested in buying brakes from a company that sells racing brakes but will refuse to warranty your clearly defective set because you took your car on the track. If you are interested in the actual PERFORMANCE (instead of hype) of a BBK, I will be posting data regarding the differences between a stock Brembo system and an Alcon BBK within the next month or two. We will be hooking up an accelerometer to a car with similar mods to mine that has a totally stock brake system and measuring g-forces during successive hard braking maneuvers to determine when brake fade starts to occur and how bad it is. We will basically be taking the two vehicles up to 80mph and hard braking to 40mph repeatedly until both systems start to fade. To try to keep things on even ground, I will be running the same brake fluid and pad compounds on each car. As soon as I have this data, I will be sure to post it in my other thread regarding the Alcon brake install and information. |

| If anyone else is willing to participate in this test that has a different BBK, please PM me. I would love to be able to compare every brake kit on the market in the same fashion, but I don't exactly have the personal funds to do it ;0 |

| No Project-Mu love in here? I'd still like to hear from the OP about how the brakes got stolen too... Wheels stolen, followed by brakes stolen? |

it's great to see Alcon's 2 piece rotor for the rear bbk and retain the hand/parking brake. Alcon is the only bbk for the GD body that I saw with 2 piece rotor. I have AP Racing rear bbk but the rotors are just 1 piece, good thing it retains the hand/parking brake, I wish AP made it 2 piece rotor like Alcon did.
