Default Man the people at my subaru dealarship are clueless

Why is it that the people they hire at the dealerships are idiots? I just wanted a couple of simple parts and they didn't even know what I was talking about. "What's a downpipe?" I mean come on. I just needed the uppipe and downpipe gaskets and the oil feed and return lines for the turbo. He says I need to come back tomorrow to talk to someone else. This is the second time they have given me this line there. Are the other dealerships like this or is it just mine?

probably the same guy who thinks my strut clunk is caused by a dried out trailing arm bushing....

But hey, I'm going to let him replace it under warranty, and let him perform the free alignment that he suggested as well (with my RCE blacks installed....)

The head of my service department has his own heavily modified STi...I've been very pleased with my dealership.

Go to the parts counter, even if they don't know what I'm talking about.. I simply spin the monitor around, scoot the keyboard to myself and find the part myself.. they have exploded diagrams of absolutly everything so finding parts shouldn't be that time consuming even if they never heard your request before!

A lot of dealerships hire people with no prior mechanical knowledge, some places don't even require an ASE certification to be hired.. go figure right?

You just made 99% of IWSTI very envious!

Dont forget that up until the WRX, most dealerships were dealing with their main customers, hippies and lezbos, until perf Subys came out.

I honestly don't deal with my dealership that much. it is a little far away and I have mechanics close to home who I trust a whole lot more with maintaining my vehicle. I only take it to the dealership if I have warranty work for them to take care of.

My dealer told me that the I/C sprayer sprayed a special fluid into the motor which upped the HP by 7 for a few seconds. He said it was basically Subarus equivalent to a small shot of nitrous.

I almost stalled the car I was laughing so hard during the test drive.

Thats hilarious I walked into the showroom and there was a salseperson showing him a new STi. He saw me looking and started trying to sell me one. I said no thats OK I already have an 04. He says " Oh I always liked the bugeyes"

Well the parts department has not even called me back. I'm just going to find the stuff I need online.

the place i bought it from in chicago the sales guy knew what he was talking about... i read seriously everything on this site before i went there and he knew it all i was impressed but every1 around here for the most part dont know sh*t... ive gotten overfilled with 5 quarts of oil on 3 different occasions from the dealerships making me go out of my way to get that unnecessary waste of time BS fixed because of some degenerate worker... this is why i will only be going to precision to get whatever i need to get done (plus a little AC trip while im down there ) knowing something is gonna get done the first time make you feel all the better

Other than that....dealerships are a pain in the ass and that is why I'm glad I have a mechanic next to my business building that I knew for years

I work at a subaru dealership in a very heavy subaru modified community. We even sell aftermarket performance parts like COBB, Prodrive and TEIN. unless the customer comes in and gives the most lame dscription of what they are looking for, most times the guys in parts can find it right away.

Sometimes you need to use exact terms when looking for something.

I get silly responses from guys at napa when in there. One guy was trying to school me on using properly paint coded paint on my Subaru when all I was looking for was white paint for my hella supertone horns. Like I cared if it matched the satin white pearl lol. the horns go under the hood.
