- the more austere 04 interior (we don't need no stinking climate control) and its perfectly good stock cd player option.

did i mention the 06-07's are ass-ugly?
Good call on the rack, but were talkin stock here. Hubs, wheels and a rack and the guys alreads invested a $1000 and some change, lol. I mean hell he could get a 07 and redo the whole body for $$$ so it looks like an 04 .

in all seriousness, the 05 is the best sti offered. did i actually admit that?
I thought the 04's had like a 3 piece steering rack vs the 05's that had a 1 piece? Maybe i'm way off base here. You still admited it!!! 05 FTW!

Nothing wrong with any year really its just the little querks that most people make there decision on.

the answer is: an 04' with the '05 hubs/wheels
haha....if you call a stereo and 50lbs more weight a burden...then sign me up....05 all the way. Why waist money on a hub conversion on an 04 when you can have an 05! haha And as far as Diffs go.....unless you're a dedicated track guy like you bruce....99% of people who buy an wouldnt know the difference between the suretrac diff and the one in the 05

I have searched and read and know all the differences. this is how i felt before reading my thread. (had a few mods)I want and 05 sti as that was the one i drove for 2 months. I do not like the look of the 06-07 although from what ive read and heard it can be a faster car( i may be wrong). I just really dont want an engine that someone beat around and then returned. This car would be stricly for moding since ive been driving my dads Ford GT40 and know what its like to feel power and can never go back.

You dont want an engine that someone beat on but then you are going to mod it to a GT40 potential? Kinda strange...but I guess I understand. You can find lots of adult owned single owners that garage their cars and just take them out on the weekend...I wouldnt even be scared away from a STi that had limited track use.

Look for a low mileage, adult owned, STOCK STi.

I agree with the above comment. However, I would restrict "limited track usage" to road course usage and not drag racing. That's just a personal opinion, but it seems to me that drag racing is alot harder on the drivetrain than road course usage.

then dont buy an STi and instead go build yourself or buy a built LS1RX7, even an FD if you can afford it.

or find a low mileage adult owned and completely stock '06 or '07 then have some crazy go nuts modding fun on it and still wonder why you didnt start with a rwd sportscar lol.
