Default Wanting to Import A US STI to Canada

Hi I checked everything and costs I live in Calgary Alberta so I think the importing would the the best as I would save 13gs on a new STI..

But I am also thinking should I buy one used? and save more? or are used sti's damaged goods?

Where could I go to find one? I already contacted the dealer in montana to price me out a new STI.

THanks!

i bought my STi used and have had no problems in the 1 year/20k miles i've had it. key to buying used is trying to find one that hasn't been modded. and i also personally prefer certified preowned from a Subaru dealership as opposed to private sale or a non Subaru delaership.

OP, you're on the wrong forum

Check out www.albertasubaruclub.com and www.beyond.ca - both of those websites have a bunch of write-ups on guys (like me) who did exactly what you are thinking about doing.

It's a load of paper work... but if you do your homework, it's not that big of a deal at all. After everything, I paid CAN $42k... hell of a lot better than $55,600 that I got quoted.

You might have better luck in Montana than I did, but the dealers' STI's were way overpriced. I made a good deal with Eastside Subaru just outside of Seattle. Joe @ Carter Subaru will give you a STI for invoice as well... something to keep in mind.

Good luck, and check out those other two forums - all your questions will be answered there.

Wow I had no idea that Subaru of Canada upped the prices that much over the U.S.. The conversion rate is not that bad anymore so it must be that your government taxes the hell out of vehicle sales, which makes sense given what I know about your abusive income tax rates.
