IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Just out of curiousity, and this is not meant to flame anyone or start any BS, but how many of you have finantial help from your parents when it comes to living expenses and/or car payments? The reason I'm asking is that although my parents are rich (ie: millionaires) they haven't given me **** throughout my life. My Mom says it's to build character but I am starting to think they don't like me. They bought my younger sister three cars that I know of and they paid for her to go to college and get three degrees. I think they are also paying for her house to be renovated. For me, I bought my first car when I was 19 and in college. It was a 1983 Datsun 280ZX. After college when I got my job I bought a Corvette then a couple years later I built a house and bought a Porsche 930 Turbo. My wife and I also bought a new 1996 BMW M3 that same year. Since then I've built another house and had a ton of cars and my parents have yet to give me anything other than gas money. Even that was because they wanted my truck to tow some antique furniture they bought in Ohio. Their POS U-Haul trailer shorted out my AC system and I had to pay to get it fixed! They didn't contribute a dime Sorry about the long post but I was just curious as to whether or not other people get help from their parents. I guess I either have a lot of character now or my parents are just cheap! |

My dad paid for a large majority of my STi as my college graduation present. I make my own living now though.

My parents were extremely poor when they were kids and even up until I was around 12. After that they both got their Doctorites degrees and then they inheritated a lot of money. My Dad died recently so my Mom now gets his retirement money along with all of his life insurance. She bought a lake house and goes to Hawaii and AZ and just about everywhere else. It seems she spends money on just about everything but good ole Max-Q

Want a fast accelerating car for the money, buy an old camarro or mustang and put some money into it. You can have a car as fast through the 1/4 for surprisingly little money. Or if its handling you are into find an old CRX, EG civic or miata and put some money into the suspension and you have a car thats faster through a turn. If you are on a budget, there are plenty of cars in the used market that will give the STi a run for its money for a lot less green. |

| STI Driver | Im in the same position as you man, don't worry. Don't stress yourself over it, there are alot more important things. Half a year ago, I was bustin ass for money so I can pay for an STI or 06 Eclipse, I later realized it wasn't worth it until I finished college. Give it time, you never know something better will come along. Im stuck inbetween an 04 Cobra Terminator, and an 06/07 STI, but I know once I finish school and get my paper, I can choose from either. =) take it easy bud, itll come to ya soon |

| Spec C Club | Figure out what the payments would be and start an account at your bank to deposit/transfer that amount into EVERY month. NO cheating, as you would be cheating yourself. This will do 2 things for you. 1) it will get you into the monthly payments (to yourself at this point) 2) it will allow you to have a hefty downpayment and the security of knowing you can do it, not just thinking you can do it. Don't forget to include your annual insurance costs into the monthly payment. hope that helps some |
