The difference in the turbos is the 07 has a larger wasgate to help with boost spike/creep and the longers gears in the 07 help with the 1/4 mile time by eliminating the 4th to 5th shift. And theres been some 07 with headers and a tbe tuned on pump gas making 370-380 wtq and one of the guys that was tuned ran a 12.1

i don't think it's worth the money to trade in your 06 for an 07...at this point in time, i think waiting for another week or two is the best option.

Seems like no one really understands his thoughts and reasonings on this. I think I have an idea though.

He's probably wanting to trade because he'll have to do less to it to make more power with simple bolt-ons or stage 2. Not everyone is looking to upgrade turbos or have head work done or swap trannies, but if a stock version comes with it already then why not? I would, but I'm happy with my 04. Never really grew accustomed to the lips that are over the rear wheel wells and not so big on the spoiler thingy on the quarter panel.

EDIT: And with it being an 04 and not a newer 06 and being paid off, headwork, upgraded turbo, and even a tranny swap and 12.5:1 rack are sensible options now.

I would keep the '06 because the differences between an '06 and '07 isn't all that significant. The slightly improved turbo/head/tranny isn't worth the depreciated difference between the two cars. However, if you are considering an '08, it wouldn't be too bad if you really like the styling and performance of the next generation STI.

That is pretty amusing to me. The reason we see so many 07's with good numbers is that a lot of 07's are going directly to a header as part of their stage2 setup. Any 04-07 STI will make 315-325 whp & 360-370 wtq (on a Dynojet, e.g. Topspeed) with a protune and header. Perhaps the gearing has the Evo guys worried, as it reduces their dominance in quarter mile racing. Though why they're so obsessed with something better done with RWD and a V8, I can never understand...

As for trading in... well, for the money lost in the transaction it would be cheaper to have the gears installed in your '06.

Haven't you guys figured it out yet ? Anytime you buy/do something, within a year or later something bigger and better comes out/has been done. Just enjoy what you have. Any STI is a good STI in my opinion!
