| Junior STI Driver | Ok, so like many on here I am in the hunt for an STI. Although, if the right deal pops up I might be inclined to take the regular wrx. My question to all of you is what you think of this. Would it be more reasonable to have an '05 WRX for $21.9K with roughly 9.5K miles and try to talk them down to about $19.5K or so. OR go for the STI with 40K miles for $24K and try to talk them down to $22K or so. I know the insurance for the STI will be a bit more based on the fact it is just that, an STI. The mileage is only thing that would put me off from the STI. I will be looking further into different deals as they come about but I just want IWSTI members opinions, cause that what we are all here for isn it? ![]() Edit: Forgot to mention, both cars are at Matt Slap subaru, in Newark,DE and both are OBP. Has anyone dealt with this dealership before? This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2006 Trader Rating: (5) | That is too much money for that WRX. They were closing out '06 WRX's in Sacramento, CA for 4k under MSRP brand new. If you can't get the WRX for <18, I would seriosuly look for an 06 WRX for around 20k. Get the 2.5L you won't be disappointed. Having siad that, if you can afford insurance on the STi, that minght be a better choice. |

| Professional STI Driver | ......the 2.5l Block is strong, I mean with a dyno tune you can squeeze up to 300WHP out of the stock setup and be happy. With a COBB 2, it will pull all the way until it runs out of engine @ 154MPH. The Speedo is a little happy. I still believe the 2004 STI is the all around best model year. As the later years come by, Subaru will look for more efficient ways to manufacture the vehicle. My "04 had no problems! PLUS, lets say the motor does die, since Subaru has the same engine for 4+ years, odds are you can bet as long as the body is still good, you can still grab a block for $1500. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | I paid 25k for my 05 STi and it had just under 30k. If you decide to get a WRX save up for a built tranny if you plan on modding it. I've seen them go out on stock cars, if it wasn't for the tranny i would've had a WRX awhile ago. I ended up deciding to save and wait for a decent priced STi to pop up.
