| Junior STI Driver | I love the STI with its power and awd. However, I dont like standing out that much. If I got one I would remove the spoiler and probably get it in silver. I hear alot of stories about how STI's getting keyed all the time. Is this a normal thing for the average STI owner? I dont want to have to worry everytime I come out of a store to see if someone keyed my car. If I removed the spoiler and got a less conspicuous color, do you guys think my car will keyed? Thats the only downside with the STI, I just dont like standing out. However, I want the power and obviously a manufacturer isnt going to make a car this powerful and not make it stand out (I was thinking about the legacy but it is too big for me and I hate leather). | Junior STI Driver | I have never heard of STi s getting keyed for no reason just sitting there. Of course I don't park it anywhere I would have to worry about that. I don't go to clubs and I would never drive my car there if I did. Just get it, and don't park it in a bad area. |

| STI Driver | You should be safe. My cousin is still in highschool, and got his G35 coupe when he was a junior, and is paying for it himself. SOOO, ofcourse there will be haters. No vandilism or property damage to his car yet. *knock on wood for him* lol |

I've parked it downtown a few times, in a parking deck, and I park it when I go shopping and such. So far, no one has touched it. You will get looks from certain other drivers (street racer wannabes for the most part) and the younger set (prostitots and high school kids who've driven the car on PlayStation, etc.). Luckily, there's an easy fix. You can get a WRX lid + spolier + some cash in trade for your STi bookshelf. Lots of people want them. Just find someone with the same color WRX and swap it. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | As previous posters mention, yes YOU will get over the attention thing. However the STI (IMHO) does attract alot of attention, I'm sure alot of it depends on where you live, too. Here in st. louis, there aren't that many STI's driving around, so I get alot of looks. Other places it may be different. And yes, I'm very paranoid about vandalism, but there really isn't alot you can do about it. Car alarms now-a-days don't offer much protection, and most people are trained to simply ignore them. I am seriously considering going wingless or putting a regular wrx wing on, to attract less attention. If you have problems, you can always get a 2-way alarm (one that pages you). I had one on my old honda and it worked great.. It was rather cheesy but the little LCD screen told you which point on the car was intruded (ie, shock sensor, trunk, hood, doors). naturally, it was always the shock sensor and it worked pretty darn goodBottom line, a limited will probably attract less attention but it'll always be a risk. same for wingless. The nicer the car looks, the more attractive it is to baddies, it's all part of the game.. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
