FYI, for all those driving up I5 into OR...

The troopers in this state, well, never mind my opinion. Be mindful of your speed on the highways, especially near --> http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/08/811.asp

I have not read about it as much in the papers recently, but I assume it still exists and watch yourselves. Best way to ruin the start of your fun would be a speeding ticket while traveling up to Subiefest. And, it won't be a warning, it will be a ticket.

If you are going to travel up the coast, again, be mindful of your speed in the endless small towns up the coast. Scenic, but will be a much slower drive.

Safe travels...

It is scenic. The rain makes things very green up here.

Yeah I know quite the trip thats why I am trying to find people to go up with and follow just to make it interesting. and just in case something happens you know flat tire what ever nice to have an extra set of hands. So are you thinking of leaving early friday morning or maybe thursday evening and stopping part way for the night. Those are the two options my girlfriend and I have been pondering.

we are thinking about leaving early (6am) friday am. we were thinking about driving alone since we plan on stopping a few times. we sort of want to go at our own pace...long drive and all. you do have a good point about the extra hands for the "just in case" situations.

i'll pm you my info and maybe we can chat about it.

so should it be recommended that we prebook a hotel or just drive up and get one. I have no clue how many hotels are available in that area

Early sat morning at the ihop on the gateway exit off I-5. I figure around 7am-or 8am. I am not in a hurry to get up there when it opens so I would wait even longer to leave for the so cal guys to show. At the same time if people were to stay at a motel and want to leave early that is fine too.

Default Subie caravan

I am still interested in going, it would be cool to be in a caravan, how many tanks of gas would it take to make it there? i'm figuring 3? maybe four?

I would like to drive up Friday morning, but if enough want to drive up Thursday that would be ok too.

You can make it to portland and back from springfield in one tank of gas and have some left over.

i have Been checking weather.com and that last i checked it was looking like 10% chance of showers. Not bad for April in oregon. Cross all your fingers, but then again that why we all bought AWD cars right....?
