| Amateur STI Driver | How much power does the american WRX have? I see all these ads saying 227 hp, but then i see import magazines, and they say theyve got like 216 after a vishnu satge zero mod and aftermaket pipe. So whats the deal? Is it around 180, or is it the manufacturers given 227? Thanks This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

| Junior STI Driver | 227 is the manufacturer specification, which is typically taken at the flywheel. The other numbers you're reading are likely taken from a dynomometer, which measures power to the wheels. Stock bhp is well below 227. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2002 Trader Rating: (12) | Mikey, Yes, the performance is the same...meaning its all relative...the car still will have ATLEAST 227 to the flywheel, meaning they are getting around 150-175 to the wheels because of driveline loss (friction, etc). Now, if Sport Compant Car is getting 216 out of a WRX with a Vishnu Stage 0 then that means they are getting around 260 to the flywheel...which means that no the 0-60 is probably not the same as the stock WRX...its BETTER!! Another thing to think of Mikey is power is all how you can apply it...awd can really apply power well, but it sucks a bit of power to use it. Check out :http://cobbtuning.com/aps-cobb/aps/rtperformance.html With Cobb's RT kit the WRX makes 256 hp to the wheels, yet can run a claimed 0-60 in 4.31 seconds!!! So, although the 256 doesn't sound impressive compared to the stock "227hp" it is much better. That 256 is compared to a stock (to the wheels) hp of 176hp. |

| Amateur STI Driver | Woah, that has really opened my eyes. I have always been comparing it to 227 instead of ~176. Now I got a new view on things. Thanks! This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
