This actually happened to me today for the first time...I figure it was just the pump as it was not at a station I usually go too.

That exact same thing happend to me once, but not my STI, my 04 R32. And the scratch it put in the quarter panel wasn't buffable. It left a nice gouge. From then on, I NEVER pump gas without actually holding the pump.

Al the way to off, I even take the key out now. My gf turned the car onto ACC when I was filling up, I almost slapped her.

I am at half tank mark on the gauge and I am between 100-110 miles. Is this normal for winter

I noticed this happens more when I am filling up with the nozzle locked in at the slower speeds (for lack of better term). When I fill up at the wide open nozzle setting it seems to update the fuel gauge more accurately.

again, i get back in to the car and the gauge is down by a quarter of where it was. I guess I just have to go by the mileage...

This is dumb, but can effect it.

Is the car on a straight or inclined surface. =P

Same thing here, if you dont turn the key off before refilling (you know leaving the radio on for the girlfriend ) then it says you have about 3/4 tank when its actually full. I have even had it not read the change in fuel level at all after a change in my old car, and that was after leaving the key in the on position while filling up.

I also noticed some pumps will not fill the tank completely. The place I usually go fills it right up nice. after it clicks off you cant even put $0.50 more in or will come out and down the tube!

I was having the same problem with my 04 and asked a service manager at the local dealership and they told me it is the fuel sending unit (there are 2 that must be replaced) if your car is still under warranty they replace them no cost.

For some reason after about 4 months of mine doing it it started working right again....and hasent acted up since

nope that wasen't my problem, I have never left the key in my car while refueling...too many cases on local news of car stolen at gas stations with keys left in them so I keep my keys on me at all times.
