That's too funny!!

You'd better wink when you say that, sonny boy. I was doing IP netblock math in my head back when you were still in diapers!

52 (hand me that walking stick phattey) and on my second Subie, first STi. Hemming and hawing on mods that might negatively affect the warranty and resale value; yet at the same time thinking what they hey, screw the warranty! I enjoy driving it so much that I might just keep it forever and turn it into a track/auto-x beastie some day.

V-Limited lip goes on as soon as I actually lay hands on a non-broken one. The wing is going to go byebye as soon as I get the replacement trunk in my back room to paint shop. I'm going to talk to my dealer about pinks and tops; if they're cool with those then I will be doing that soon. Wheel/tire changes are coming but I will wait until winter to decide whether the stockers become my summer or winter wheels.

Cheers!

And WOMEN (though I don't see them much represented in the STi ranks.) At any rate. Hear, hear.

Sorry, but I've never seen a woman in an STi. Other than my wife. Who hates the way it looks, but loves driving it. She says my car is like an ugly woman who happens to be great in the sack.

I'm 31 and had my 2005 CGM STi delivered April 1, 2005. I have no mods yet, I'll probably play it conservatively for a while... we'll see. Unfortunately, I've been out of town on a job for 6 months and will be for another 2 months, so, she's got less than 200 miles on it! So sad. Now to part with my lightly modded 88 turbo supra... In the meantime, I'm really tearing it up in my rental Dodge Intrepid. Whoo hoo!

How the heck do these 16 year olds can afford a 05 sti and mods? I'm 19 and I own a Integra and in the process of saving up for a used sti. Since i'm a college student i'm having to pay for college and other expenses and my parents are not helping . Everything that I own has come from my hard labor. But it would be nice to have a rich parent to buy everything that you would ever want. But I think you dont appreciate things as much as a person that buys everything by themselves and work 2 jobs to get that sti .

Well, have seen several women who own STi's. I consider my wife 1/2 owner of mine as does the state of Calfornia. I also consider myself 1/2 owner of her EVO

36 - 05 with 24,000 miles:

TXS Stealthback
Ecutek tuned by Harman Motive
JDM Pinks
Group N Top mounts (fronts about to be replaced by Cusco camber plates)
Hotchkis fr/rr sway bars
Hotchkis endlinks
STi replica front strut bar
Ferodo D2500 pads at all corners
Goodridge stainless lines
Motul brake fluid
245/40/17 Kumho MX's for the street on black painted OEM BBS's
235/45/17 Pzero Corsa's for the track on silver OEM BBS's
Greddy EGT, Boost and Oil pressure guages in Suby OEM housing
Alpine CD/MP3 head unit
JL audio component fronts
Eclipse 5x100 amp
10" sub in box in trunk

Boy, that's a lot of stuff in a year.

Near future:

20G and supporting mods
Zeal V6 coilovers (next year maybe)

Then I'll be done.....yeah right.

26 years old with 5500 miles on it already and only things I have done have been crap cosmetic stuff like key ring light, dead pedal, tint, and rockblocker. Just bought a house so the sway bars, pinks, and top hats are gonna have to wait. Next I think Compustar has to be the next mod. I am a little nervous as I got my STi because I had my Civic SI stolen. I HATE PEOPLE WHO STEAL CARS. Can't complain too much I suppose it was a BIT of a step up.

chrisf - nah, my wife isn't half owner. (even though hers is the ONLY name on the title because her credit is better than mine)

She has a Miata which is also great fun to drive. But she doesn't want to share with me. (unless its snowing) So I don't share with her. ;0

Don

p.s. crazyviet - its called
1) rich daddy
2) rich daddy who feels guilty - this is a variation on number 1. Usually caused by a divorce or a daddy who travels too much, so he can't go to Junior's tennis matches.

You see, a 16 yr old, no matter how hard he works, can't sign for a car, can't register a car, can't insure a car. Because he's a minor.

What parent would buy their kid a 300 hp , 30 K car is beyond me. I grew up in an affluent town with kids whose parents gave them stuff. Almost all of them are useless turds now.

I started racing motorcycles at age 10. Every week after a race, I would work with my dad and come up with a list of things to fix before the next race. He was NOT a "little league dad". He saw it as a way for me to learn responsibility and respect for things mechanical. He didn't really care how well I finished. No pressure. I got a kiss on the helmet whenever I finished, no matter how poorly I finished.

When I was 13 my dad said that if I wanted a new race bike I'd have to earn it. I obviously couldn't get a job at that age. He also didn't want me working during the school year, my job was to study. So that summer he came up with a list of tasks and their dollar value towards the new bike. So even at 13, I was forced to EARN it.

When I turned 16 and could get a summer job he would match any money I made and put towards a bike. That helped me afford new race bikes, but he wasn't GIVING it to me. I also had to do all my own wrenching.

I think my dad gave me MUCH MUCH more than just the opportunity to have some great weekends together. He forced me to learn to respect machinery and taught me that there is satisfaction well beyond just owning something, when you've worked for it.

(stepping off soap box)
