IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2008 | If you have a smell of fuel in your trunk this is where to start looking...! if you mounted your sub into the trunk floor you might a hit a fuel line while drilling... here is a pic of where all the fuel comes from... step 1. empty trunk step 2. pull out trunk carpet step 3. find this location in trunk and open it up by removing cover step 4. take a look maybe something is loose something loose -> secure it ---usual suspects: ------main fuel line worked itself loose from all the pressure ------sub vibration loosened the lid fuel pump assembly (where all the lines are connected to) ------fuel lines are old cracking/rotting comes from age or creative rubber eating fuel mixtures i.e. kerosene/jetfuel <- only fix for this is replace the fuel lines front to back step 5. nothing loose? take your car to a smog check, they can pressure test your fuel tank... while they pressure test if you are able to hear/see the leak in the trunk section pictured... replace the seal on the fuel tank cover step 6. none of the above worked... come back to iwsti.com and report what you have found out so far... |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2010 | I have this same issue only when it's been really cold outside and when the car is first started. I'm guessing it's coming from under the hood because turning the blower on circulates the smell even more. I'll check out that fuel line under the manifold when I can. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2007 | I had the same thing on my 05 STi. The fuel hose was cut too close and when it got cold, it would constrict and start leaking fuel in the engine department. I had to have the whole fuel rail assembly and hoses replaced- it was over 600 dollars. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2007 | Plus it only happened when it was cold. If it was warm outside, it didn't happen. The dealership couldn't find anything the first time- and then it happened again so I took it back and they found the problem. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2010 | Is there a recall for this issue? leaking raw fuel sounds pretty serious. |
