Default Forester?

My dad is lookin for a new SUV right now he has a honda cr-v which he really loves. But he was talking bout gettin something new so i metioned the new Forester which i personally think subaru really got it right they look amazing. I showed my dad a few pics of them and he likes them and he looked at consumer reports and top of the list is the forester. So i think the next car he get will be a Forester. So i was wondering if you all know how they are and i have talked to a few people and they said they love them so i was just wondering what you guys think of them.

Foresters are great cars. The older ones were built up Imprezas, unfortunately the new ones don't share as much parts. But they're solid, reliable, handle great, and everyone loves them.

I never liked the older Foresters because they felt "tinny". I wanted to like it, but we ended up with an Outback instead. The new model is very nice though - I was checking it out while looking at the STI and it seemed much more solid.

My dad has a 08 Forester XT right now and it is pretty fun to drive, not to mention much better utility. Handling kind of sucks stock form but he added STi sways, STi springs (Forester specific, not the Impreza one...you will dump that car if you do), BBS wheels with summer shoes from 04 STi etc and it handles just shy of a stock STi which isn't bad at all.

TD04 while reliable does run out of steam easily though, so we are thinking about getting a VF43 and STi TMIC for it

Brother and parents have a 2004 & 2006 Forester (both non-turbo). They love them and haven't had any problems. A friend of mine got a 2008 (I think, could be 2009) Forester turbo and the engine blew after a few thousand miles (no mods, all stock). But Subaru replaced it and he hasn't had any further problems.

What's a forester?

JK!

I love my '08 (my second forester) with 300/300 at the wheels. The '08 was the last year of the sporty models. The new ones are definitely nice and a little larger...but they blend into the crowd and are mainstream style (cookie cutter). You can't go wrong w/ one, though.

Some of the early '09s had issues w/ the engines but were rectified in later builds. You can also get offroad bits for the foresters so they are better offroad (liftkits, snorkus, etc.)...lifted foresters are popular in Australia.

You are also on SubaruFoz.org aren't you? I really want to put those STi parts you got on my dad's Foz too...
