IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2008 | I'm sure a lot of you Subie owners have had to make a decision between an Evo and an STi at some point. Just wondering why some of you have chosen to pick an STi over an Evo...? I have had a 2002 WRX before so I know a little about Subaru's more than Mitsubishi's. I'm looking at both for my next car purchase. Either the 04-05's or the 06-07's, and I just want to get some opinions. |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2006 | One of the big deal breakers for me was the fact that there weren't any Evo's on any dealer lots meaning I wouldn't be able to test drive the car before purchase, probably not an issue for you. Other than that it was a bunch of small things like: - more balanced chassis due to symmetrical drive train (symmetrical drivetrain is also better in bad weather) - standard 6 speed transmission that's known for being strong, the gear ratios for daily driving aren's so great though - HID headlights standard - cruise control - great crash test ratings The 04-07 sti's are all pretty good; although, the frequency of problems seem to be greater with the 07 model year. If you decide to go with an EVO only consider an 06 or newer. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2006 | Practicality. The evo doesnt have rear fold down seats and has a small trunk. I wasn't able to keep a second daily driver around when I put myself into the STI or an EVO so I needed a car that could do a lot and that was the STI. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2008 | ^^ one of my MAJOR deciding factors was the BOXER SSOUND.. can never get old. + i liked how all STi's came with 6 speed MT standard. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2004 | Looked at 3 different EVOs before I even thought about looking at 08 STIs The Evo looks better to me in every way.... but... I like the torque of the STI The boxer rumble 6-speed (didn't want to buy the MR for that) Finally... and most importantly to me......7k off and 0% my STi. |
