Reason I chose the STi. 1. I know someone who has an Evo IX SE that always has problems. 2. Subaru is better known for quality 3. Subaru is better known for safety and came with side airbags and security system unlike the evo. 4. Interior is way sexier except for the recaros in the 06 evo and 05 leather ones. Those blue recaros in the older ones looks like crap. 5. Better Daily driver. 6. I like the looks of the car as a whole better opposed to the evo where I only like the front and the rest looks like a ricebox. | |

| Grassroots STI Racer Feedback Score: 0 reviews | Both cars are great, but there are definitely some differences. I wrote up a summary in my journal of my Evo vs. STI experience. In short I had every intention of buying an Evo X, but that changed after driving both cars. If you're going to build a loud, obnoxious car that's intended only to be fast and handle like a go-kart, the evo is the way to go. Evo's respond to mods VERY well. You can spend very little cash and make this thing rediculously fast. It also handles well right off the lot. If you're want a daily driver that has a great interior, has great torque, excellent storage capacity, looks mean (man I love these fenders) and have confidence that you'll actually have warranty coverage, go with the STI. The boxer rumble, extremely strong manual 6-spd trans., and a little bit of room to modify the car without losing the integrity of a refined stock car (downpipe/tune/swaybars) are just some of the things that make this car great. In short, make sure you test drive both cars. |

| Professional STI Racer Feedback Score: 1 reviews | The Evo salesman was a douche, treated me like some kind of kid fanboy. So I left abruptly and went to Subaru. Subaru was much more professional. I was home within 2 hours with my Sti. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 | 1) Got a great deal on my STi when I bought it, 2) Subaru's reputation for safety and quality, 3) Mitsubishi's lack of reputation for safety and quality, 4) My brother owned a 3000gt and while he loved the car, he had lots of bad experiences with the local dealership and their service department, and 5) At the time I was looking Mitsubishi was considering pulling out of the US market. Note though, the above reasons where why I bought my STi back in 05. Why I own my current car has to do with not finding good deals on used STIs or EVOs in my area and not liking the newer iterations of either car. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2008 | I got the 2008 STI because it is more reliable (in general), safer, more practical (hatch>sedan), has a better sounding engine, better AWD system, and it was a whole lot cheaper (try and find a new evo for $27,988 with 0% financing). They're both fast, and they both handle well. The EVO handles a bit better stock and the STI is a bit faster in a straight line. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2005 | why i picked my 05 STi over an Evo: - better interior - dealers would let me test drive it and also make a deal on it why i picked my 08 STi over an Evo: - better interior - TONS of cargo room - dealers would let me test drive it and also make a deal on it - i loved my 05 STi i guess i had bad luck with mitsu dealers in my area, they all would not allow test drives ("you can test drive it on the way home, after you've bought it.") and they all wanted at least MSRP, a few wanted over ("it's a HOT car.") the few mitsu dealers in this area also seem to have a problem with staying open which also didn't help. |
