| Spec C Club Feedback Score: 2 reviews | 1. Mitsu voids warranties for the smallest mods, even an air filter 2. Subaru's reliability, family had a Subaru for 15 years with 250K miles and had to get rid of it cuz the frame rotted out but the motor still ran strong 3. The Boxer Rumble! 4. The Evo seems like more of a high school kid's car |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 | The EVO wasn't even on my mind when I bought the STi. In hindsight, I should have at least gone to look at an EVO IX when I bought my Subaru. I basically went for the STi because I had a WRX back in 2002. I was looking for an S2000 but decided against it because I wanted a fixed roof for track days, and then decided against the RX-8 because I had realized that I wanted more horsepower. I had to drive a couple of hours to get to the nearest Mitsubishi dealership, and when I found and looked at the STi I currently have the deal was pretty much done. |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2008 | OK let me chime in here. I have an 07 STi that I love with all my heart and im buying an 06 Evo GSR this week. Im keeping the STi because i've always loved the car even before I bought it I just knew I had to have it. Now im buying an Evo to go along with it so I can have two cars to play with. The Evo is my DD so nothing to extreme as for mods in the near future but both cars will be running a gt35r in the future. I personally never considered buying the Evo before this month but after driving a bunch of them and realizing that The STi and Evo are completely different I said why not. It comes down to preference in the end though. Im not going to go into the cost of mods vs the other because we all know already.... |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2006 | Well, there are a lot of great comments here, and I will do my best to contribute. Starting back in the Summer of 03 I went looking at the offerings from both Sabaru and Mitsubishi. My very first impression of the 04 STi was, "wow, I didn't expect it to sounds like that!" I guess the boxer rumble took me by surprise. Next the driving experience was awsome, again beyond what I had expected. The response, the handling and sounds all took my totally by surprise. The 03 Evo was also fun to drive, but it didn't sound as good and just wasn't as fun to drive. Also, between the two I likes the looks, interior not so much, of the 04 STi better than the Evo. The killer of the Evo deal was when on a test drive the car started billowing smoke from under the hood and mis-fired several times during hard pulls so I was a little put off and concerned about reliability and future service issues. I had the 04 STi for just over a year when I finally grew tired of the blue interior and all the negative attention and got into an 05 Legacy GT Limited... in my opinion Mitsubishi just didn't offer anything else that I would be remotely interested in so there was no point going to their dealership. A few years after that I caught wind of rumors about a new "stealth" STI and imediatly started to find out all I could about the car. I also returned to Mitsubishi to determine what it would take to create a factory "stealth" version of the Evo MR. When all was said and done it was going to be more trouble than it was worth especially for a car that in my opinion hadn't changed all that much from the 03 version I'd driven years earlier. Again I drove an 07 STI and the 07 Evo MR and the STI was just more fun and brought a grin to my face that I could not hold in. I ended up pre-ordering an 07 STI Limited and can say that there has never once been a time where I wished I'd gone with the Evo... I've never had so much fun in a car! Recently I picked up an 08 STI for daily driving duty and again looked at the Evo... this time the X MR. The shifting did not impress me although the handling was amazing, but as always the difference between the STI and the Evo is the STI makes you feel like you are doing the driving while the Evo feels like you are just along for the ride... Now someone mentioned poor custome service at Mitsubishi dealerships, and that for me varied. A lot of the time I was met by some young guy, I'm 34 btw but they always seem like they just got out of high school, and they seem to know some stuff about the car but they also seem to think that the Evo is some kind of Ferrari killer or something. Other times I was not even greeted in the car lot after spending 5-10 minutes looking over the Evos on the lot. That isn't that big of a deal but when you walk into the showroom and start asking "buying" questions it would be nice if the Mitsu salesman would drop the attitude. Sometime they do and sometime they don't... and that is another reason I've never owned an Evo. I've never fealt brushed off by anyone at a Subaru dealership and the salesman, although not always very knowlegdable, at least extended some common curtosy which I appreciate. Lastly I think the STI has always offered more bang for the buck while the Evo just always seemed overpriced, especially the MR version which the last couple times I've considered a Mitsu offering. For me the sixth gear is a must and although I really really like the looks of the new Evo X MR, while Subaru was offering $7k off and 0% for 63 month, the Mitsu dealership new me was still trying to get $2k over MSRP for their MR. In the end there have always been a lot of reasons for me to stick with Subaru and just not many reasons to move over to an Evo. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2008 | It all comes down to personal preference, obviously. I had an 04 WRX before, then after a few other cars I bought an 06 EVO 9 when they first came out. By far the funnest car Ice ever owned. Great handling and plenty of power with simple modding. However, I got sick and tired of the fools that drive around and think they are hot sh*t because they drive an evo. Granted, there were a few nice evo guys, but I missed that sense of "community" I feel both cars are very equal and have pro's and cons in different areas. Just comes down to personal preference. Just don't expect evo guys to wave to you, in fact they'll probably try to race you. Kids! Lol |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2005 | It wasnt a matter of STI vs Evo for me. I wanted a Suby ever since I laid eyes on the 1 gen RS here in the US. Wasnt until I got a decent job out of college that I could afford one. I didnt even bother test driving it. I bought it and then drove it home. Stalled 6 times on the drive home and had a guy in a Jetta want to race me |
