IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2007 | Evo was none to be found when I bought my Sti but I am glad I bought the Sti because of the cheap parts found on the Evo that seem to brake like hood latch handle and transmissions that crap out. I plan to build my car up after warranty is up and like the idea of having a solid platform to do it to. Also when I went Evo shopping they wanted me to sign on the dotted line before a test drive could be made and I do not like the idea that they are owned/affiliated with chrystler products, back in the day there would be two people in the car (chrystler product) a driver and a tuner, the tuner would have on glasses with tape in the middle holding them together. Besides I like to drive alone and do not need the extra weight that a tuner would add. If I had the money I would start to buy Sti's from year 2004 on up for my personal collection. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2008 | If i was a millionaire I would buy: 04 STi, Evo 06 STi, Evo 08 STi, Evo I would buy matching colors of each year, so black sti and a black evo, WRB sti and a BBY Evo, silver, Graphite, every matching color for each year. So I would Have like.... 22 Cars, lol. And I would park them all next to each other. When friends came over, we just pick which ones we wanted to drive. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2008 | My reason's... Hatchback/Wagon style...I wanted something that is usable everday and may be able to grow with me. The Evo won several tests I saw for being faster and easier to drive on the track...but I will probably never see a track and the refinement of the suspension(yeah take a little bit of the performance out of the handling I know) from these test remarks steered me closer to the STI. Interior look (never did get a chance to see the MR though). Some parts on the Evo I saw seemed cheap or out of place on the exterior. Never got to test drive the Evo never really tried though. All in all if I respect the Evo and if I get trounced by one oh well...I did not by my car to be the fastest. I bought my car to be a daily driver and be able to handle more cargo. There is another manufacturer's car model I bought my car to beat but no need to throw that stone |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 | I bought my Evo in '04 and I very well could be driving a STi instead. This thread is accurate for the most part. The leather interior that I have in my Evo is far better then that hideous cloth that Mitsu offered at the time. Opting for leather also got me a sunroof, upgraded stereo and HIDS as they were all in one package(SSL). The steering is the best that I have experienced in any car and the handling is off the charts. The Evo tends to be a little more "raw" than most people anticipate as you'll hear some people complain about the stiff ride. For me it was all about performance and that's why I picked the Evo. Four years late I have a built engine with a stroker kit and a 50 trim turbo.....and I'm thinking about selling it to get a new STi. |

Asshats! That pretty much sealed the deal, in the sense that I wasn't going to buy an Evo if I couldn't even drive one. However, there were still a number of factors that led me to the conclusion that the STi was a better car. Overall, the quality of construction of the Subarus seem significantly better than the Mitsubishis, something my experience with two other Subies has confirmed. The Evo had the feel of an econo car with bits and pieces tacked on, but the STi felt more like a cohesive whole. And, having had hatchbacks in the past, I could see the virtues of the STi's much greater interior space and versatility in carrying cargo. I can appreciate the Evo for what it is, but the STi just seemed to fit me--literally and figuratively--much better. | |
