It wasn't until a week before purchasing the STi that my brother changed my mind...I just couldn't get the same name on the back of my car that I have on the front of my TV, haha
Same exact thing goes for me. Started out liking the evo and came along the sti

IMHO. evo VS STi battle will never end, it's just a matter of what you prefer

The evo is a great car, i have a couple of cons on both cars

evo rear end looks horrible, and there is no way to improve it, while the '08 STi rear end is the only down side for me, but it is an easy fix with tail light overlays

I thought the evo is an awesome looking aggressive car when it came out, but in reality, it's not as aggressive as it is in pics. The '08 STi on the other hand didn't appeal to me when it first came out, great car but wasn't impressed, started growing on me, and when i saw it in person, i just fell in love

I drove an evo, and an STi, and fell in love with the STi, much more practical, and I'm just a big fan of the boxer engines (even though i'm scared to death to mod my car before i know i have the funds to upgrade if i blew something up )

the evo is a better handling car stock, or at least feels like it, and that's the only thing i could think of that the evo is actually better than the STi in, the evo recaros are just not for me, my car is a DD, and will only see the track a hand full of times, so i'm not too worried about supportive seats as much as i'm worried about them being comfy

I choose the STi because i just like it more, and i could not pass the offer

+1

Wanted an Evo BADLY. I just couldn't live with altezzas and didn't want to pay the extra money for a 6-speed.

Boxer sounds better IMO. Side airbags are nice too. My first WRX also saved my life, drove it off of a cliff when I was 17. It's been a long time coming, but stepping up to an STi and rejoining the family felt like the better thing to do.

And LSx territory as well. A late model Camaro or Trans am and $3000, you've got a powerhouse at the dragstrip...

Really though. I don't see why we don't have respect for Evos that they deserve. If you goto EvoM, you RARELY see people bashing Subaru. If you do see it, it hasn't got the thread/post deleted fast enough by the mods.

I know what you mean , on internet forums, people just hate on the competition

evos are great cars, and STis are too

if I prefer something, that doesn't mean the other option suck

even if you know you are better, bashing because someone/something is not as good as you, is a bad strategy in life , being proud of what you own does not give you the right to say that evos suck, they don't deal with it

Coming from a GTO background and on LS1GTO.com, I can say a large majority respect the Subarus. Not an easy feat, they're pretty confident over there. Rustangs, Evos, Ricers, Hemis, and Euro trash are all routinely dissed. But the WRX and STI seem to different. Maybe because quite a few own both (I do...).Something strange though. The goat owners watchout more for the WRX's then the STI's. Maybe its the mod thing or not knowing what your up against. Curious...

I picked my STi over an EVO because I was shopping for a wrx initially then realized I could afford the STi. Then when researching the sti I first heard of the EVO and read that the subie was close to as fast but more liveable and a better dailly driver. The fact that I like subaru more as a brand was the final decision maker. There are times when I wonder what it would be like to have gotten an evo instead but I never regret buying my sti.

Anyone who hates on evos is just jealous or insecure. Both it and the sti are great cars.

haha how is my english poor in that post?

It was a joke.

I wasnt sure if I could trust the new evo platform and the dual clutch paddle setup wasnt strong enough for my goals. I didnt want a 5 speed and the new evos were only $3k off msrp and 0% apr vs the stis proven powertrain and tranny as well as the ej257 to go with the $7k off and 0% APR

I love evos, the new ones cost too much and a used, mint evo 9 after interest would have cost me more than my 08 sti.

I have soo much respect for the evos, but they are SUPER rare around here. I know of 2 silvers, 1 gunmetal and 1 black. I drive around ALOT, all over the state and never see them.

Id trade my sti for a evo 9 with the full works alcantara interior and a wingless trunk on the 6spd ANY day. I do LOVE my sti though!

Come to think of it, I may try and get my dad in a evo x or something. he hates the wing on the sti and evo though so I would have to get ahold of a wingless setup for him..

oh and **** people who point out grammar on car boards. if i wanted my grammar to be corrected i would post on the national geographic spelling bee forums. cunt
