Default Sooo disappointed in STI performance!

I have 07 STI with Prodrive performance kit...320bhp-450nm with stock Potenza. They are not new but they are in good condition

Last night i was driving with one of my friends who bought limited version of Golf IV 1.8T with approx 200bhp maybe 180bhp and 230nm.Something like GTI.Until last night i have never been racing with someone. We tried a few times but the result was so bad that i couldnt even belive!! My car should go from 0-60mph in 4.8sec, 0-100kmh in 5.1 ( that's what Prodrives says) and Golf from 0-100 in about 7.8 so that is huge difference

We werent racing from standing start. He was just in front of me and we were WOT at 1st gear from around 3500-4000RPM and a few times second gear from approx 60kmh.I wasnt expecting to just fly over him but definitely to be much faster.Distance between us wasnt decresing all the way from 1st until maybe the end of 2nd gear!Like he has the same acceleration At least i was expecting that the distance would start to decrese at slow rate all the way from the beggining and not from around 80kmh!!I know that i am not driving a Ferrari but if i need to go all the way to the 3rd gear so i could start passing that Golf P.O.S then i will seriously consider selling the STI!

there are many things that could come into play here. Your driving ability vs his. the gearing. etc etc

roll racing isnt really the STI's forte'... take him to a road course and race him... then youll find out where this car really shines.

I am driving stick for almost 6 years now and have been driving a lot of very fast cars.I am not a pro with a stick but i am good!
My car IS faster then this golf and i am slowly gaining advantage in second gear when higher RPM comes up but i really was expecting from STI to be much superior over 180-200bhp car...especially with STI's 320BHP

On a road with a lot of curves i dont even want to try because GOLF is definitely much lover league conserning the handling and stability but that acceleration on the straight road that we tried really supprised me...I was expecting more from my car...

you also have to remember the golf is much lighter and does not have the AWD disadvantage when roll racing.

I don't know what your talking about. Either your bad at driving or your friend isn't stock. Every single car that i've happened to race or had "similar" encounters with i've pulled away from like a joke. This includes:

The new golf gti
2008 Nissan Maxima
2008 Altima v6
so far...
and all those will destroy your friends volkswagon stock for stock, but i'm also stg 2 and protuned.

I'm far from a car expert, but i have no gripes with the sti performance, other than 1'rst gear is too short. But second in my car pulls you back in the seat, and it's great all the way through 6'th.

Also your 320 hp is crank hp i'm assuming, not whp. If it is whp then something's not right. You should of ripped that golf a new a$$hole through 2'nd.

yea im not sure, im going to say driver error. Because I had a GTI pushing 235whp/250wtq and my sti is making 325awhp/340awtq and its dead obvious how much faster my sti is over my GTI

Why hasn't anyone suggested that there may be a problem with his car? I can't see how bad shifting would account for this...especially since he stated that he started from a roll in 2nd at 60kmh.

I have to appologize to all of you!!!I wasn't well informed...GTI was tuned pretty much.It has 255bhp instead of stock 180....I talked to my friend an hour ago...He told me specifications for stock 1.8T GTI, he never mentioned that his car was tuned That now have much more sense why i was leaving him behind me at not very fast rate as i should be doing. It just couldnt be possible that 180bhp car goes like that.Sorry for bad informations and wasting your time.I just was very angry on my car this morning that i just had to say it...I really appologize once again!!!
