Well, unless you want to risk some road debris smashing your oil filter, I'd put it back on. Also improves aerodynamics.

put it back...it is so easy to remove and it keeps road debris from kicking up into your engine compartment. I would definitely keep it on at all times.

You don't need to put it back on but I would recommend it. It will protect parts on the underside of your engine such as the oil filter from getting hit by road debris. It also helps with aerodynamics and will help keep your engine clean.

yes you need it. it is necessary for the radiator to function most efficiently and for engine heat to be drawn from the engine bay.

a other member pointed out to me that with it off it creates a problem with air flow through the TMIC

But theres no slits to drag air out??

Ive had mine off for about 6 months with no issues driving 100 miles per day. My Oil and Engine temps have not increased and ive never had an issue with anything being hit under there. In my opinion its more for protection. I do however plan on getting an aftermarket alternative to put there, its just not that high on my list of priorities.

You should keep it on. Supposedly it helps with aerodynamics as well.
I've had mine off for a while, but am replacing it with a Beatrush underpanel. Much better design IMO.

Subaru engineers didn't put a piece of plastic under the car just for looks! Keep it on the car. It aids airflow through the engine compartment as well as smoothing out the underside of the car to improve aerodynamics and downforce.

well said, subaru didnt spend money on something that didnt actually function, unlike some domestic cars (mustang fake scoop, trans am fake ram air scoop).anyways the tray is really there for keeping turbulence in check when at high speeds, the JDM version gets an extra piece that covers the tranny ( wish we got that option ).

im sure you get the point by reading what others have posted.

I wish they would have done like on the 05 LGT. There is a little door with about 4 popits you remove, swing door open, and remove oil filter. There is also a spot to access the drain plug removal. Seeing the cars are nearly identical, seems like Subaru cheaped out on this undertray.
