30k pus car, no gauges? - Page 2

i would rather get the car as is and put my own high preformance gauges like hks's or somthing

If a car stays stock, it "shouldn't" have any problems. Subaru is not going to add gauges so people can monitor their car in case something goes wrong, and if it does, it will be under warranty.

We, of course, would love gauges stock, because we mod our cars.

Quite a few cars come with these useful gauges. Even the SRT-4 comes with a turbo boost gauge does it not? Or perhaps I'm thinking of the Cobalt SS-Supercharged.

I think the boost gauge is really the only thing missing here, considering the turbo nature of this car. however, in terms of absolute usefulness, I'd say the oil pressure.

My car didn't even have a radio or floormats. An OEM boost gauge and Oil Temp gauge would be nice from the factory, but I probably would have just ripped it out to install some Defi's somewhere down the road.

^ good point, subaru knows these cars will become modified and most likely have things added to them anyways.

I bought the car for the drivetrain, nothing else. Look at it this way...the base impreza is like the same car for $15,000. We just pay $20,000 more for some seats and engine/transmission haha!

No car company is going to add diagnostic tools to their vehicles. They'll just sell you a warranty.
The boost gauge in the Neon was a marketing tool and really inaccurate. "Check out my boost yo!"
If they were smart they would have added a SSBOV to really reel in the douchebags.
Subaru offered the Lamco as an option and isn't there a JDM gauge pack that mounts where the clock is? I see nothing wrong with that.

Back in the 90's, these(Gauges) were standard on the Turbo equipped vehicles..(Minus my MKIV Supra of course) So I dont see why they aren't or dont make them standard. Of course it could also be because everyone upgrades no matter what..

Actually I think even the old-late 80's Shelby turbo cars had a factory boost gauge. But, these guys are wanting oil pressure and egt and stuff. The factory is never going to do a quality gauge setup on a production car. Maybe an option, or dealer installed piece, but never right off the line. Its not cost effective.

Yep, agreed. I was really surprised there was a lack of gauges when I bought my 06. I mean geez the old turbo wagons had a boost gauge (a goofy one, but). I personally would of easily given up the foo-foo junk like the Home-link and climate control temp for a set of real gauges.
