IMO, the 07 is a much more refined version of the STI than the 04. The basic performance is similar, but the feel and updates on the Limited make it really nice. I have 38K+ on my car, and I would still take it over an 04 every day of the week. Also, if it already has 37K, you can bet the guy was driving it mostly on the highway, and if you are a low mileage driver, it will catch up in a few years. I hate to say it, but I really think that Subaru finally got it right with the 07 STI Limited. The interior is almost as nice as a M3, and the gears have been updated. There are so many small features like the sunroof, rear seat pass through, and heated leather that really makes the car nice to drive. I'd update if I were you.

I totally agree with Tapout! I had an 04 PSM STi, and loved it, but after 10 months I got tired of the blue interior, and the wing. I ended up trading it in for an 05 Legacy GT Ltd, but soon discovered that it was lacking the power and handling of the STi. When I started hearing rumors and then saw pictures of the STI Limited I knew that this was the Subaru for me. Don't get me wrong, there were many things I really liked about the 04, like the raw power it seemed to have over the later models, but with the Cobb AP, going stage 1 with my 07 STI has made it feel like my 04, and now without the blue carpet and racer wing! In the end it is really all up to you and what is most important, but there are many ways to make your 04 more like the Limited if that's what your interested in. I wouldn't take a fully paid for car and lose my shirt for the ultimately the same car... like others have said you can swap the carpet, cover the seats in leather and go wingless, heck even get the limited lip spoiler and viola... you have an 04 STi Limited... and that would be truly "Limited"! Yea I would definitely not pay 10k for a similiar car with a little less mileage. I do want those leather seats tho. Has anyone ever put the limited seats in an 04-05 STi? lol

im also looking for a limited
and im in nearly the same predicament as you

i refuse to pay more than 29K for a limited
i think its ridiculous what people are charging
i just check autotrader and found some for upwards of 32K, which is what they went for brand new
one as high as 37K, which is 08 STI territory
i wouldn't mind buying out of state, only problem is I have a trade in to deal with
which is why i decided to sell my car private party and pull in a little more money
i think you can get more than 18K for your 04STI

Yea those are ridiculous prices lol. For 40k miles on an sti id expect like 20k for highest possible price. Ive seen an 04 psm that couldnt sell for 23k and it had 14k miles on it.

I also own an 04 and liked the limited when it came out. Enough to make a corny little website...
04 vs. limited comparison

Definitely can't justify a trade-in though for such a similar car. Also I like my short gears.

The Limited is typically still pulling in 32K because nobody seems to like the 08, and most of the people that bought a Limited paid $5K-$10K over sticker to get one. Dealers had a premium on the Limiteds because they were so sought after. If you want a Limited for less than $29K, you might want to find ones that have been wrecked or have really high mileage.
