Default <<<<< 450 WHP too much for a DD ? >>>>>

Hey guys, Im seriously thinking of buying my buddies STI but Im not sure if it is too aggressive for a DD. I dont care about practicality, Im really just worried if it is too much stress for the car to drive that often. I dont want to buy it and then a couple months later blow the motor. I don't commute long distance to work or anything like that nor do i drive all over the place, but I will drive the car on a daily basis.

If properly maintained is this possible, and how many of you big HP guys actually do this ?

depends on the tune and its aggressiveness and i see that is on 91 octane..maybe think of some type of injection, like WI, to make it more reliable.
also its on a built block, so no, IMO, its not, if the tune is good.
I did it with 500+

Well, it seems to be pretty damn built!!! As long as it has a good solid tune and you don't beat the hell out of it you really should be fine.

TLC it and don't beat it to death. You should have a reliable grin-generator for quite some time.

Wow, Im glad to hear these reactions because it make me feel more comfortable purchasing the car. I thought it might be to crazy for a DD. I really don't want to have to buy another sh*tty car and have to insure it also to daily drive. Id rather have a solid conservative tune(as it already does) and enjoy it every day.

I'll prob save some money aside for things that could possibly go wrong.

That's a great idea. And add about 25% more to what you were thinking of saving

I daily my car and it had been 430 AWHP and now is 476 on pump gas and I still get nearly 23 MPG and have had no problems whatsoever other than the CEL. I have over 16K miles since I went to the GT35R. As long as the car was built and tuned well, you should be just fine.

I DD'd a 450hp FD, surely you can a WRX! Of course with any heavily modified car, you're going to want some slush fund for busted odds and ends. BTW, when I said don't beat it to death; I meant don't drop the clutch at 8K like every day. Boost the f outta her!

Also, Normally when buying from friends they want you to give them Mods + car value. I wouldn't suggest doing this. I dont know what he is selling the car for but be careful about how much you spend. And remember your not ripping your friend off if you are giving him fair market price.

Question: How much power is too much?

Answer:

Trick question, there is no such thing as too much power.

In all seriousness, no its not too much. Just make sure you build it right with all the supporting mods and you should be trouble free.
