Default I know this is an STI forum, please forgive

I had a 2004 wrx premium, shouldn't have sold it. I told myself it would be ok because I would buy a used STI when my cheap lease ended. That time is almost here, and I still want the STI, mainly for the 6 speed. But now I find myself debating; do I want to spend around $25,000 on a used 2006 STI or a new 2008 WRX? Given the interest rate differences the WRX makes more sense, but it's not an STI as I think you'll agree. It will be my daily driver, but neither I nor my wife is worried about it being too loud or rough. Just looking for some opinions.

If you want power, you will not be happy with the 08 WRX especially knowing that you could have gotten the 06 STI. The only advantage of an 08 WRX are that it is new, offers more space, and is probably a little more comfortable to ride in. I think the STI is your best choice!

The power is nice, but not my main draw. Though I never had any problems with my tranny I always was concerned. I think the 6 speed, brakes and other bits are what I want most. Plus I don't want the heartburn of not having the STI.

It sounds like you know what your heart and your mind are telling you:

STI or bust!

Do it man, Handeling alone makes up for it. All you need is a set of swaybars and call it a day. You'll love every second of it..

Get the STi and don't look back. If it makes you feel better, go drive the STi first and then the WRX and spot the differences, they are pretty drastic.

Kinda sounds like you already know what you want... stop debating and go pull the trigger on that 06

I know you guys are right. Wasn't sure if someone would try and talk so sort of financial sense into me. Thanks for the input.

Financial sense? Nahhh...

If anything, the sti will hold its resale better than the wrx and you could reclaim most of the money lost in interest when you go to sell it in the future. Of course you will never be able to sell it because it is an sti.

If you get the WRX, then every time you see an STi on the road you will turn green with envy and regret. Then again, you are asking people that belong to an STi forum, so the opinions may be slightly in favor of the STi.

I saw someone selling his 2007 STi for $27k and change with 6k miles. You might wanna search at the cars for sale section. GL

What? Are you saying we're biased?
Get the STi. I had a buddy in a similar spot. Bought the WRX and its driven him crazy for years every time he's spots and STi
