Default Got pulled over today

I got pulled over today, the sheriff checked out my car and looked REAL hard for any mods in the engine bay. Well, he told me that my aftermarket exhaust was illegal. The exhaust is an HKS Carbon Ti so he got me there. But then he claimed that I had no sticker or emblem of some sort on the intake manifold. I got the car used so I don't know if it's supposed to be there or not? The engine bay looks and is completely stock, save for the Helix downpipe.

Well in the end, I didn't get a ticket but the next time I get pulled over and get inspected by the cops, I will be sent to a referee if I don't make those changes. Funny, the sheriff called for back up twice and they couldn't even stick a ticket on me. I was admittedly amused on the inside when they were scrutinizing the engine bay like hawks but couldn't find what they were looking for.

Pics of engine bay? Lots of people think the intake mani is aftermarket because of the way it looks....

It can be there, I don't think there's a vehicle code for just slapping an aftermarket exhaust on a car. However, if it's too loud (which is what I think the officer was getting at), then yeah, you can get cited for that.

I got cited for my Carbon-Ti being too loud once before. I just stuck a silencer in there, got it ref'd off, and paid the 10 dollar fix-it ticket.

I know, right?

So the IM doesn't need to have a plaque or sticker or anything to show that it's OEM-tyte, yes?

You know i applaud them for doing their job but sometimes you have to wonder why the even bother with things like this. I mean whats the point? To know they have the power to ruin someones day? Crime fighting. Window tint, front license plates, and engine mods who honestly cares?

That plus the INSANE, OUTRAGEOUS cost of real estate and fuel. Not to mention the retardiculous freeway traffic.

But, I still like it out there. It's the epicenter of all things cars. AND it's only a few hours away from SEMA.

Don't get me wrong, I do support local law enforcement but you're right gorman. They do try to get us for the most pointless things sometimes.

I notice that I tend to get more sh*t from sheriffs rather than the police though. The sheriff who pulled me over called for back up TWICE, I could tell they really wanted to get me for something big but in the end couldn't and simply warned me about what would happen if I were to get pulled over again due to my car's "illegal" info being in their computers now.

Really? Thats interesting cause I get completely the opposite where I'm at. The police bug me for passing wind in their general direction but the sheriffs don't even look twice when they see me.

Swap out the melon shooter for a stock looking exhaust. 99% of your problems will go away.

I got the stock catback in storage, would that bolt directly to the Helix DP and still maintain decent flow?

I've been actually thinking about a new catback for a while, maybe the Maddad Whisper...

Nope. Helix is 3 inches all the way back, therefore your 2 1/2 inch catback will not fit.
